Relax, try not to tense up. If you feel yourself doing the death grip then grip the tank with your knees and your arms will automatically loosen up.

Most of all, enjoy it!

Don't do any lame Scooby Doo impressions before or indeed after the ride and you'll be fine. Wink

You're paying for training, not to be abused by some failed examiner (who are themselves failed traffic coppers).

Relax, the day starts with a classroom session, by the time you get on a bike you'll have that happy balance of excitement and tingly nerves. Just enjoy the rest.

BUT

Make sure you take both parts of your driving licence with you.

Mine was a nightmare but then it was for everyone there. At the end of it though I definitely knew I wanted to ride. Its not a test either its just training. Just treat it like its something your work has sent you on and youl be ok.

Urr that probably wasnt very helpful. Like I said everyone thought it was a nightmare. The first half of the day anyway in the afternoon though once off onto the road it just got properly exciting.

It's a piece of piss ...really, it is a joke people are allowed on the road with such little training, just go and enjoy it.

Its a joke that cut fatalities in half after it was introduced. Just the fact you have a few hours riding with someone constantly reminding you to do lifesavers is probably worth it.

Breathe.
Relax.
Have fun.

Seriously, if you feel yourself getting tense or stressed, breathe. Few deep breaths, relax the upper body, look where you want to go. You'll be grand.

125's don't really have the power to wheelie off the throttle, you'll need to clutch it up!
My mate managed it on his CBT, he did however stack it.

Listen, be cool and look up.

Just remember it's less of a 'pass or fail' thing than the Mods 1 and 2; it's a training session. They're looking for you to display a level of basic competence to assess whether they feel you can then progress to actually learning to ride. Yes, in theory you could fail and not be issued with a certificate at the end of the day but you'd probably have to be spectacularly incompetent or do something outrageously dangerous or foolish. The instructors aren't expecting you to get your knee down by 4pm, they're assuming you are a total beginner and will teach accordingly. My guess is as the day progresses you'll gradually become more excited and realise how much you want it. Best of luck!

If you go to pull away, and it doesn't move cause you're in neutral, release the throttle before changing down and dumping the clutch.
That was a painful lesson in bike control on my CBT. Still got deemed safe though!

All good. Not very taxing at all really and it's pretty much all common sense. The actual road part was the hairiest, obviously, but listen to the instructor and be aware of other road users.
