Hi peeps,

just wondering if it is wise to use a pressure washer on a bike?

I would have though it's OK, but keep away from the obviously stuff like electrics and chains etc.

But are there any bad points to doing this. The bike it totally covered in crap and at the moment i dont have the time to go over it with a small brush and get covered in gease.

Any advice gratefully accepted!

I use a 100psi pressure washer on mine and it started to remove the tyre pressure stickers from the rear swing arm, and that's about it. Fine otherwise. As you say, just stay away from the electrics etc, and just make suze any graphics are not aimed at directly.

There shouldn't be too much of a problem. Just make sure you don't get too close to the paintwork, if it is a high pressure jet then it could take some of your paint off - or damage it.

Avoid directing the washer at bearings eg in the suspension or wheels - they can wash the grease out and shorten the bearing life by a lot.
