Hi all,

My girlfriend has decided she wants to learn to ride, so we've got her a lifan 125 to learn on and it's been okay so far (feels very rough compared to a CG or YBR though).

However it does have a very loud and annoying, alarm type noise which sounds when the indicators are on. The noise comes from a little box just beneath the seat on the left side of the bike. It's a completely sealed unit, and I'm assuming its the flasher relay. I couldn't remove the buzzer inside it, so taped it up to suppress the noise, which worked. The trouble is, her front left indicator has not worked since.

The actual flasher relay, is different to any I have been able to find online, and has a connector on it with 6 terminals. Only 2 of these terminals actually have blade connectors, however on the male part of the connector, there are 6 wires!

I have checked the front left indicator for bad contacts, checked the bulb, and the wiring, and it goes off into the back of the headlamp.

I have a spare headlamp unit anyway so am going to change it today, and when I swap the wires inside the unit over, I will inspect them.

If nothings obvious, then my next step is to check that the bulb is getting current to it with a mulitmeter, but assuming that it is, I'm not sure where to go from there?

Most motorcycle flasher units have just 2 pins, but I have seen some older ones that have 3 (the 3rd being for the pilot light) but I have never seen one with 6 pins!

Makes me think that what you have is not actually a flasher unit - but what else could it be that connects to the indicators? An alarm unit maybe?

A dodgy alarm unit might have a fault that is affecting the indicators, and cause the siren to screech at the same time - that's my guess.

If you could post a pic or find a part number on the thing, that would help.
