Best tips. Power wheelies have done a few times but just out of curiosity would like to see how people get the wheele up using the clutch?

Err... no.. just No.
Works on tiddlers, but, it's just not good practice.
If the bike dot have the power to weight to do it on the throttle, dont do it.
Clutch-Drop wheelies bang the front up from shock-loading the whole plot, which ent nice to the transmission or motor, and coming up purely from sudden loading they ent controllable or often sustainable.

Tef's right, that's why I don't do it on the ninja. I was just mucking about with them on the R125 before & on the pizza bikes cause 125s are disposable. I am terrible at wheelies btw.

My brother reckoned the opposite. Power wheelies are a bit naff and less controlled than clutch wheelies. I've got no experience at all but he spends 90% of his miles on only either the front or back wheel. Laughing

Yeah I'm sure it is a lot easier on the tiddlers to be honest. Bit scared to even attempt it to be honest, but it does look like good fun!

Just having visions of slipping the clutch and the bike popping up in milli seconds, me flat on my back and my bike sliding down the road

You know that visualisation actually works and its used by all professional sportsmen do you?

I would be careful what I visualise when learning wheelies and I am serious here.

Nice article how to do wheelies here:

I believe Tef's point is that you shouldn't do clutch wheelies on a bike that can't do power wheelies, because the transmission isn't designed to be strong enough for the torque involved, and relying solely on clutch dumping rather than in combination with a surge in engine power makes them less controllable.

A clutch-dropping wheelie is basically dumping energy stored as angular momentum into the transmission, like releasing a spring. If you don't have the engine power to then keep the front up, you need to use a bigger initial bang. The point is that judging this initial whack is less controllable than directly feeding power - if you have the power - after the front is up (from a smaller release of energy).
