If I change the tyres on my MSX (120 70 12s) and don't bother balancing them, will the smaller size and rotational mass mean that I don't need to worry about any unbalance, or the increased speed of rotation, due to the smaller circumference, mean that I should go and get them balanced.

InB4 kittens will die if I don't balance them, I didn't bother on my xt125 or my enfield

I always balance front and rear. No need to wear the shock absorbers out even faster.

I had mine checked (for free) when I had them changed, but the front was fine and the rear was just loosened and rotated 180 degrees. No weights needed.

regardless of the practical answer, I would be interested the physics of this question, it may be because I've had a few drinks tonight but I cant get my head around it....

I didn't balance the front on my last bike. I just lined up the light spot with the valve and went riding. No noticeable vibration at triple figures.
