Out on the 7th. Anyone buying?
Looks to be a good game with a few flaws, bad human enemy ai for one. But it looks true to the movie with retro computers, an epic sound track and a good main character.
Still, after completing The Last Of Us everything else looks inferior.

Unlikely to be buying as money is tighter than Rik Wallers pants elastic, but it does look decent, like the game Alien: Colonial Marines *should* have been.

Probably wait a few months when it's cheap as chips. Can imagine it's a game that's good for a bit but gets a bit boring

Colonial Marines looked good too... I'm fucked if I'm buying it on release after that shower of shite.

Looks good, but some reviews are saying the game is too long and outstays its welcome in the second half.

Bought Colonial Marines on release. Was disappointed beyond belief, what a shit game.

Won't make same mistake twice. Plus early reviews say the game's not that great - too long? I would love to love this game but it it's just repetitive i'll get bored so quickly. Anyone got it yet?

its not something i'd ever buy but i watched this matey stream the first few hours of it the other night. it looked repetitive and after the initial few scares with the alien a bit dull. too much of do a hundred things to get through one door to the next few hundred things etc etc.

never saw the end but i read that its a bit of an anti climax and makes no sense.

multiplayer gaming is the only way

Judging from the reviews and the play through videos, it looks like a decent survival horror game.
The last game that had me on the edge of my seat like that was the first Dead Space, created an awesome atmosphere that was immersive. Really had you "over listening" for things for the first part of the game, especially if you played it alone in the dark Laughing

Looks like they got the sound/music for Alien Isolation spot on.
If only I had something to play it on Sad

I disagree I HATE playing multiplayer games, I play games because I don't want to interact with other people. if I wanted to talk to people I would leave the house and do it.

I do play one MMO (TOR) but it is know as being a bit of a single player MMO. I only play that because I loved KOTOR.

For me it is story and gameplay both or which are compromised online, plus I win less Laughing

Fair enough, I'm the complete opposite! i want the interaction and (in part) the competitive side - its what keeps me playing.

If i wanted a story told to me i'd watch a film, or a TV series. Horses and courses

I've just completed it. It's a good game overall and I'd give it a solid 8/10.

It's very tense and playing on medium, quite hard. I think the main thing your average consoletard will struggle with is the infrequent manual saves, minimal handholding and the fact the big spiny alien can't be hurt.

It's good. I really don't understand why anyone would say it's too long? Like i said above-it is genuinely difficult and I bet the moaning reviewers are too addled by autosaving handholding to cope.

Teme do they just happen to be lighter areas or did you cheat and turn your brightness way up? All footage ive seen is almost pitch black.
Think I'll pick it up when its below £25 for ps4.
About the length of the game. People moan when a campaign is 6 hours now they moan when its 15+ hours.

About 15 hours of play on medium. Considerably longer than most single players on most recent games I have played.

I'm playing through that ATM, gets a solid Meh so far.

Maybe it is just nostalgia, but I seem to remember there being a ridiculous amount of quality games coming out when I was a kid. I play so many now and I just think, I really could take this or leave it.

Thinking back to the last games that actually impressed me and they were The new Tomb Raider and The Last of Us.

The majority of games seem to be stuck in sequels. I've recently been playing Arkham Origins, I loved Arkham Asylum, Arkham City was OK, and this is OK. But they are nothing new. Each seemed more like an Expansion pack than a new game. Exactly the same happened with UnCharted, I loved the first, didn't even finish the 3rd.

If only Dead Space had been first person 😒.

I'm playing Alien Isolation now and enjoying it especially the Crew Expendables.

10/10 So far,

My ancient Q6600 plays the game just fine at 1080p, max settings (no Vsync) - so it also gets extra points for that. I'd give it 15/10 but that'd be just stupid. Smile

EDIT: ''Dead space'' comparison, well Dead space didn't have that nostalgia flash back and was quite a different game. The Dead space was a great series, even the Wii version was great. Thumbs Up

AI and DS are two completely different games. Their only similarity is they are set on a hostile space ship.
I heard if you play on hard the alien even hears your motion tracker. Fuck that

I actually think if Dead Space was first person it would be better than Alien Isolation. AI relies so heavily on the movie atmosphere but its done so well its worth playing almost for that alone. DS is a purely developed game and as such has more depth. They both boil down to being creeping about in a dark spaceship though.

I'm playing through it now and REALLY enjoying it.

The creators are obviously massive aliens fans, and understand what fans of the original wanted.

It is really tense, it can be frustrating, but it rarely to me feels like it wasn't my fault. There is one section which is the first time you really get hunted by the alien, and it really is a trial by fire. I think this section is designed to get you used to evading the alien, and trying out new techniques and stuff as it never really leaves you alone. It's tempting to sit in a locker and wait for it to disappear, but the best way is to just go balls out and move as soon as its not looking at you. After this difficult section it backs off a bit and spends a lot more time in vents, and only comes down if you make noise.

There's also some really cool sections which I wasn't expecting. It does have a bit of a change of pace from Level 10 -13 but I enjoyed it, could do a bit of sightseeing, and play around with weapons a lot more. Just got to level 14 and holy sh*t!

Absolutely loving the slower pacing of the game, the save points really aren't that bad, the only way they are more than 15 minutes apart is if you are really, really hiding and going slowly. I'm playing on hard, and the only main points I've been stuck is the aforementioned difficulty spike.

Reminds me of bioshocks environments and audio logs, and metros sections with no/few enemies and just story telling.

I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys spending time with their games and appreciating them.
