Just clearing my room out and found my old 360 (white - 60gb)

Fired the beast up and was reminded why it was under a wardrobe in a plastic bag.

The disc tray plays up - sometimes it opens, other times it doesn't.

It doesn't read discs 90% of the time. (Laser gone?)

I have 2 big black power boxes and a controller.

Are these even worth anything anymore / do people still fix them?

May throw on ebay with no reserve?

Cheers lads. Thumbs Up

It's old tech that sounds like it needs fixing. I'd try fixing myself. Just for the project. you can get a working xbox 360 for less than £100 these days...

Get your screwdrivers out and have a bash Razz Buy an old red ring of deathed one if they're still around for 10p and make one out of two.

My old 360 is hooked up to a tv just to run the apps like SkyGo, so there is a life after disc-drawer death for one out there.

In seriousness, speak to GhostRider on here and he can sort you out for some beer tokens.
Turn it into an old game console emulator? That's what I'm doing.

you can change the laser in an xbox 360 dvd drive. Find out which dvd drive it is, order new laser from fleabay or Amazon and Fit. Its a bit fiddly prising off the xbox covers and extracting the laser but not difficult for a man with a Jewelers screwdriver kit..

https://www.xboxrepairservice.com/gameloadingproblems.html

explains it all.
Replacement lasers are about 5-10 squids..

Ebay a new drive?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=xbox+360+dvd+drive&rt=nc&LH_BIN=1

Also, if you crack open the HDD, it's just a bog standard SATA connection with a fancy adapter, so that can be upgraded if necessary.
