I have been on BCF for just over 2 years now. Highlights include the friends I have made in real life, both BBQs, 2 Secret Santas, the help and encouragement that helped me pass my DAS at the youthful age of 52 and the genuine sympathy and support when my beloved border collie died just after Christmas 2012.

Having vowed never to get another dog, because of the grief I went through, I fell in love with Spliff Dog at this year's BBQ. When she appeared to be a stray, I got all excited about adopting her, but her owner turned up and I was mega disappointed.

Recently LYAM posted in the Scottish forum that he was fostering 3 dogs, including a border collie, and was looking for homes for them. To cut a long story short, Ralph joined the household yesterday. He is the softest, sweetest doggie and just wants cuddles and to play fetch. He seems to be settling in well, although I think I'm going to have to ration tennis-balls, he can destroy them in record time.

So hurrah for the good peeps on BCF!

He looks ace. Any idea how old? Need a lot of exercise them buggers though - but all the ones I ever had owt to do with were almost supernaturally intelligent. Although all had quirky annoying habits. One of me mates collies would quite happily let anyone come through the gate - but by god, if they ever tried to leave he would savage them. He didn't quite get the guard dog routine. He knew he had to be brave and - where necessary - vicious. But he just couldn't seem to get it all in the right order. Laughing

my faithful friend died a few weeks ago, and I'm too sad about it to get another one right now, though we've had plenty dogs just passing through and over to stay, including one with a broken leg that we had to give tramadol to every night Laughing

had a very bouncy short haired pointer to look after yesterday

Good stuff! A friend had a collie and it was nuts. Used to think it's toy was in the light fitting, so bark at it. It would attempt to climb trees to fetch squirrels.

Chuck it! Balls from Amazon are very tough, took my Staffies a long time to wreck them.

Is the frame twisted?

Seriously nice, my better part the dragon keeps asking for one of those.

I'm at the English bull stage just to put her off but it's only a matter of time. I've been researching side car / dog situations.....

Awwww, Ralph Wub Wub
(do we have to include all those R's when we write his name?)

He looks adorable.
I'm very fond of border collies, had several over the years, both here and in NZ.

They're mad-as.
But very lovely.

This kid I was talking to at the whistle stop in whitby last month rode a yellow SV with this weird soft kennel thing on the pillion. When he pulled up I couldn't tell what the hell it was, but as I got closer I could see this dog's head popping out. Admittedly it wasn't a big dog - but it *was* bigger than diddy breeds like yorkies and stuff. Probably about the size of westie or some such. I said does he like it in there, and the kid said yeah he really loves it - and then told me about how he would get his lid and the dog would start running round and round in really tight circles getting madly excited. Except sometimes he would just be popping to the shops and would leave the dog behind, and then it would start bleeting in a really sad voice and lie on the mat next to the door, totally miffed that he was being left behind. I remember now - it was a king charles cross. Dead sweet little dog - friendly and interested in everything. Made me want one, and the little pillion kennel thing as well.

Glad to see you've got a proper dog Wink

Agility or Flyball are good to get into if you have a non working collie or else they'll get bored and be a complete and utter bloody nightmare, loads of fun too!!

Here's my last one in action...

Thanks everyone. Smile

You can get pet tank bags in the UK. I don't think they do them big enough for Ralph though:

Ralph appears to be settling in:
