On Fox. This series is set in a 1950's freak show.

The makers were obviously inspired by Tod Browning's Freaks (1932). Very dark, rude, gothic and frankly, more than a little unhinged.

In other words, right up my strasse!

Makes me want to sleep with the lights on though.......

Anyone else?

Shocked

Was going to watch it because it looked a bit different but it's on series 4 now so I didn't bother.

No box sets of it on Sky catch up either.

Each series is a completely new story but uses the same cast. You could watch them in any order, series one was a haunted house, series 2 was in an asylum and series 3 was witches. Great stuff!

Series 1, Murder House and Series 2, Asylum are both on Netflix. Series 3 Coven isn't available on catch up yet.

Asylum is bonkers!

Villers is right, each series is themed, not a serial so you can watch them in any order.

Me and the O/H were half way through Asylum, my favourite one so far, really need to get round to finishing it.

Heard a few negatives about Season 3 so not hopeful for that.

Though thinking about it the Season 1 Infantata thing scared the shite out of me (to the missus' great amusement! Rolling Eyes) more than anything in Asylum.

I watched the first episode of Freakshow last night and I thought it was really boring apart from the German woman singing Life on Mars (in 1952) which was just weird.

The scary clown would've been scarier if he wore traditional make-up rather than looking demonic from the start - after all, why would the blonde girl not have run off shitting herself immediately when he showed up at her picnic blanket? He looked like a psycho clown killer dude and not exactly the kind of guy you're going to take flowers from.

The eerie music was overemployed, the strange camera angles (presumably to spare having to CGI in the girls' second head for every frame) was annoying, the cop was retarded, the German woman clearly had 2 legs in the candy-striper outfit at the hospital and, as a whole, it asked far too many questions with no plot relevance at all.

Why would anyone hire lobster boy to fingerblast them when suitable prosthetics were easily available even in the 50s and would come without the stigma of employing a circus freak to work his magic?

How come the conjoined twins (whom the doctor clearly stated had 2 pairs of lungs) expelled cigarette smoke from one mouth after drawing it in the other?

Why didn't blondie just kick down the 1/2" square wire fencing that trapped her in the caravan? That stuff has no strength whatsoever.

The best bit was trying to spot where the SFX ended and reality began. I only recognised a couple of the cast so it was nice trying to spot real deformities from those added with prosthetics or CGI.

Anyway, it's going to have to try harder to retain my interest.

Now that the first 3 seasons are available, I've taken a free months trial Netflix it's cheaper than buying the Bluray box set. I've only picked this up at the start of season 4, and whilst horror isn't usually my thing, the clown fella is scaring the shit out the wife, so, every cloud and all that.......

I've been downloading it as in comes out in the US. The schedule doesn't work otherwise, as I've just watched the halloween episode but that won't be broadcast here until the end of November.

Buy me cake and I won't post spoilers. Wink

I binge watched the American horror series, right up to watching freak show as they aired.

Currently watching American Horror Hotel (if you didn't know it was on). No idea what channel, though.
No Jessica Lange this time around, but interesting nonetheless Smile

Thank you, thank you for the bump. It starts tonight on Fox. No JL but Lady Gaga! Who'd have thunk it?

What with AHS Hotel, and series 2 of Fargo starting in the same week I'm in telly heaven. Wub

More4 has The Returned/Revenants series 2 on Fridays too, I kind of enjoyed the first series, it's a bit like Twin Peaks - all a bit weird.

Gah, and here's me just sent the doorstepping Sky salesman away with a flea in his ear.

Oh well, Netflix it is then.
It's been on my to-do list for a while now.

Watched all three. My kind of thing; dark and twisted. Especially liked the second one, 'asylum'.

Hope they make another!

This and 'Orange is the new black', which was easy watching, are the only series I've stuck to watching. Even 'Game of thrones' didn't keep my attention despite the elaborate 'set' they laid on.

Three episodes in and I'm out. Very disappointing. It's all soft, low-lit porn, gratuitous blood-letting and general nastiness with no panache or imagination.

Also, various pop tarts and vacuous models keep showing up and taking their clothes off.

Nowhere near as good as series 1, 2 or 4.

However my description above could well increase the BCF viewing figures, so for the record, this is a no star review.
