Soooo what do you guys do?

I get a fairly good wage from where I work but I love spending money frivolously and having a good time etc. I am looking to get around £50 per week to stick away for emergency savings along side what I currently save.

Now I want to do something on the side either one day per week or evenings (My job is fairly easy, for most of the time) so I'm up for working on one of my days off, or something to that effect.

I get a bit on the side from a business that I don't technically own so that's a bonus (Only £70-£100) PM for no real work.

Was looking into buying and fixing spare/repair vehicles with a friend, but I'm not too sure Rolling Eyes

So what do you guys do?

I translate documents. (Steady income)

I write dissertations for people. (I get a couple a year).

Now and again I work as a PA for rich mainland Chinese who need an interpreter/PA type. Generally it is following them around speaking in business meetings. Sometimes it is with their wives/gfs when you take them shopping. It pays very very well.

It's quite funny when a business man hires you and you have to book a WG for him. So far as yet I've not been asked to be in the same room when they get down to business. Laughing

I occasionally repair computers or provide software to people. But I don't go looking for the work it's just friends of friends really. I should probably put more effort into it because it's easy money.

Really I can't be arsed with more than one job at a time.

As I get older, I realise how little time I have spent doing my own thing, and refuse to give that up to very many more people who don't pay me nearly enough for the privilege of spending time doing their work. Can't take it with you/no pockets in a shroud, etc etc.

I'd rather lie on the sofa and read a book these days, than work my guts out for no good reason.

No wait ... I did that before anyway

Live poker. You don't need to be that good to beat drunken idiots at 2am on a Friday and Saturday.

I haven't had much luck lately with football bets but I only spend at the minute about £15 a month on bets. I've been playing free poker to try and get better and I'm thinking of jumping over to real poker for a bit.

Dabbled about in online poker with some success, only made ~£40 per month, then started working in a casino and they mentioned not to go on the sites during your employment assuming its them talking bollocks but that's why I stopped.

Seeing as I don't work there now, I'll probably get back to it. Thumbs Up

I vaguely remember on here a few people set up a free game and everyone at the table was BCF.

Agreed. One year I earned an extra £1800 playing poker (which is tax free, yay) without really trying.

Unfortunately I've moved a few more feet up the greasy pole in my proper job now, and I have a long commute. I can't devote the time to playing and when I do, I struggle to make the final table in tournaments because my heads up play is rusty. I used to love the Sunday tournaments but now I'm usually hungover. Crying or Very sad

Plus side, shitloads overtime available. Nowhere near as fun though.

This time of the year I make Halloween lanterns either from pumpkins or turnips selling between 5-20 quid a go depending on the size of the pumpkin, usually do a couple of hundred every year. Cut, split and sell firewood all year round which is a very good earner since the wood burning stove craze took off, I just cannot get enough wood to cover all the orders.

Buy and sell private vehicle registrations on and off. Positives are it can be quite easy, good money and requires very little time overall.

Negatives are its obviously never guaranteed profit and particulary with new ones when the latest batches are released every 6 months its usually better to hold onto them for a couple of years as gradually more people get newer vehicles that are eligible to use them, so the prices tend to get better over time - can sometimes turn them around quite quickly though.

Also does mean the initial money can be tied up for a while while they're on certificates waiting to be sold on, can sometimes work out cheaper to put them on a vehicle if you're keeping it for a long period - doing it less often now days for this reason as I don't have much cash spare right now.
