Alvin Stardust dies (who?), a maker of plastic pop and he gets his own thread (yes yes I know contributed) .

Jack Bruce dies and nobody bats an eyelid Folded arms
As a member of Cream and writer of "Sunshine of your love" , I would of thought some of you more forward thinking music lovers would be a little more moved.

Not a massive Cream fan but was more bothered by Bruce passing than Alvin. Lot of Cream songs on the jukebox before/after the gig I played last night, well done that pub.

His forte was as a songwriter, one of the rock pioneers, very important in the history of the genre. Rock evolved from blues. White Americans pretty much ignored blues until Brits like Jack Bruce took it and made it into a whole new genre in the 60s: rock. Without people like Bruce, music quite literally wouldn't be what it is today.

You'd be wrong about that. Both Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker came to blues and rock through jazz. Bruce was a very competent and innovative bassist as well as being a first class songwriter.

His playing may not be to your taste but that's a different thing entirely. Thumbs Up

First I heard of this was on here. Very sad to read it tbh. Crying or Very sad

He was a bassist that I have admired for many a year and was someone I used listen to a lot when I first started learning to play bass some 25+ years ago. To say that he couldn't play amazingly well is quite frankly bollox.

Not only was he technically a great bassist but, he also had a great feel for what he played, a purely natural talent that can't be taught and as already mentioned, a great songwriter too.

RIP Jack Bruce. Thumbs Up

He sang on most of the Cream tracks. A properly important and talented musician who ought to be always mentioned in the same breath as Eric Clapton.
