A couple of teams have already kaiboshed that idea for at least the next season on the grounds of just not being able to get the kit required ready in time.

The problem with 3 cars is it'll just increase the number of pay drivers in the sport - imagine having another 6 Maldospaktards. At least it might lead to some excitement I suppose....

Thing is, Bernie is contractually obliged to put at least 20 cars on the grid. With two teams missing that's 18 cars. The only quick fix is three car teams. But then the big teams will dominate the grid and the midfielders (Force India, Lotus, Sauber etc) will become the new back markers struggling for funding because of poor results.

Needs more rasslin' style pre-race stare downs and "I will eat your family" scuffles.

No, really. Bunch of bloody robots these days, hard to care who wins.

Not really surprising. When you consider £15 to £20 million just for the engines...

BE could bail out both teams and not notice the difference in his bank balance... Will he do anything to help...
Not a chance.

The biggest problem in F1 is the man at the top. Until BE goes then it not going to change.
He could give ALL the teams the same amount each year for turning up. instead of the better you are the more ££ you get.
Let the big teams make up the shortfall by sponsorship.

F1 needs more teams. NOT 3 cars per team.
Infact make it one car per team would help. At least it rules out team orders.

F! is just a cash cow. I believe once upon a time it was supposed to be the ultimate expression of the sport. Wish we could get back to the days when engines were made by the likes of Coventry-Climax Very Happy

If you don't know what I mean have a look at the movie Grand-Prix with James Garner. If you ever get to see close up one of the old cars you'll wonder how they survived.

At least there's the yank team coming in, Honda are making a return, rumours of Audi joining, so it's not all bad.

The owner of caterham seemed to set up his F1 team just because he could, he never seemed to care just threw some spare cash at it, then bailed and left them in the shit.

I wonder if Bernie will give Marussia an advance on their championship prize money, assuming Sauber don't have a few really good races.

Remember how small the grids were in Motogp at one point?
if they can sort of resurrect themselves, F1 can

It's not about the teams though, it's about advertising and marketing and moichandising, which is when it comes down to it, about eyeballs.

Haas might bring some 'Murcan interest, but Honda? Sleeping I was YAH SRS above: what F1 needs is stories and drama, and personalities and human conflict, and good old fashioned flag waving, tub thumping jingoism.

Bring Schumacher out of retirement for one! Last! Grudge race!

Damn straight. Who'da thunk Vettel would end up the more likeable of the Red Bull drivers?

I actually think ricciardo is one of the more likable character's in the paddock, at least he seems happy to be there, because lets face it, its not always the best driver's that make it to F1, its often the most privileged.
