So on Saturday afternoon, I shall be picking up this

New DL650 V-Strom.
Test ride yesterday of one of these and a 4 year-old Varadero and found the Hondato be heavy, unwieldy, lumpy and not that much confidence inspiring.
The DL, light and agile, smooth and fun to throw about.
No contest, so signed the papers, ordered some extras, puck up on Saturday afternoon with trade in on the Intruder.
Big smiles but like a kid the week before Christmas now, can't wait ____________________ 2002 Rieju RS2-50 (Sold, spares or repair), 2010 Suzuki DR-125SM (Traded for ->), 2007 Honda CBF 600 (Sold), 2010 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 (Briefly, now returned), 2007 Suzuki Intruder 1800m (Even More Briefly, traded in for ->), 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 650 |

Kevin Ash "The best bike you can buy.".
Granted that was 9 years ago, but it's not like Suzuki actually change their bikes. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I had one. Got a bit bored of it eventually but I couldn't fault it really The fuel economy is stunning on them and with the end of season prices, they make quite a bargain. |

Got the pre facelift version, it is by all accounts a solid all rounder. Does most things rather well... even took it green laning once. Probably wouldn't again but it was a laugh
New one seems to be basically the same mechanical parts from the old one, with more up to date bodywork and computery bits. 55mpg is a plus
edit: I hear the facelift has a gearbox with less whine due to differently cut gears... that's definitely a plus as on a V-twin the originals gearbox whine is a little irritating. On an IL4 the straight cut gears fit in with the engines overall sound ofc... ____________________ Ex-'96 Bandit 600S -> '99 Bandit 600 -> K7 V-Strom 650 |

Picked up on Saturday and rode home in a howling wind, lashing rain, some hail and sleet on times (well this is Wales after all )
Got home, literally soaked to the skin, but with a great big grin on my face.
Lovely bike to ride, fun in the wet, comfortable (apart from the soggy boxers), still running in, so no hooning about, but still plenty of grunt in her to get me about nicely.
Had the rear side boxes fitted along with knuckle guards and warmy grips, so usable for every day and days off too
feels just like riding the 125 again, but with the poke to do what i want, when i want.
Going to have so much fun on this. ____________________ 2002 Rieju RS2-50 (Sold, spares or repair), 2010 Suzuki DR-125SM (Traded for ->), 2007 Honda CBF 600 (Sold), 2010 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 (Briefly, now returned), 2007 Suzuki Intruder 1800m (Even More Briefly, traded in for ->), 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 650 |
