More Delivery Incompetence

Had a strange one the other day - I was at the back at my old mans when I heard shouting. Went to investigate to find a delivery bloke had opened the front door, walked in and started shouting. Turns out he wanted us to sign for something for next door and the bell wasn't working. I've never known them just walk in your house like that I asked him if the door was open and he said it was....but I know for a fact he's fucking lying

This was Boots home delivery BTW.

It seems to me he's done you a favour by highlighting your security, nobody should be able to just walk in like that. As a delivery driver I sometimes try handles if I'm not getting a response and sometimes they open, I do the same thing, shout to get attention with a loud "Hello?". Granted, I don't think I'd try the handle of a neighbours property but if I saw it ajar I might.

He's hardly snuck in as he was making noise, I don't think you can seriously suggest he broke in either, so you must have left your door ajar or unlocked, a lot of people do, surprising how many keys I've seen left in doors as well.

TL/DR fix your security, if a boots delivery driver can get in so can an opportunistic burglar.

Amazon logistics used to open the front door and chuck the parcel in. I wonder how many times a dog/cat could get out with those tricks.
I now keep the door locked.

Meh, if I'm in, generally my door is unlocked. That said, I'm not very far from the door as my place isn't massive, and they'd have to get through the locked communal door first.

Reminds me of when I lived in a shared house and we found a tramp asleep on the couch in the kitchen one morning

I'm not over worried about burglars........I've not got much worth knicking and it gives me an excuse to cave someone's head in

Plenty of the bastards around here too, We've got a hostel around the corner where peti-thieves congregate and also, as I'm in town, the "drunk trade" on their voyage home after a skinful - a lot of them look for a cycle to knick to get home

I did have someone open my door in the middle of the night a couple of years ago, they pinched a coat from the hangers and legged it....with me chasing with a hammer in one hand, and a bread knife in the other - in just my boxer shorts

However, my Dad, like a lot of people his age is scared to death that he's going to get mugged one day and sometimes hides when there's someone at the door- possibly the result of reading the Daily Express all his life When I'm not there, I'm sure he has a total Lock-Down.....shame really

Might have mentioned, but a copper chum once walked into my home (invited, like a vampire) and purely by habit locked the door behind her.

Because so, so, so many call outs to walk-in burglaries and vehicle thefts.

if im in the house the door is unlocked but if im in the garage/back garden then it gets locked

same when i have a shower just in case

or if the daughters down stairs on her own to stop her going out on her own

Back door is usually locked unless I am out the back.

Front door won't open without a key anyway so I guess it's always locked.
