Blatant attention seeking for profit, therefore spam
I know of other forums where this is frowned on

Had he been contributing to the general doings of the
forum as a member who incidentally ran his own business
that may have been ok

I wouldn't hire him because if he cant even organise/word an advert properly,
I wouldn't trust this slack jawed attitude on my bike

One or two like this may not be a problem. But if it's just accepted, there'll end up being a proliferation of it (BCF may well be prone to it because the forums enjoy quite a high position in biking forums ranking), and who wants to have to sort through it all to find "proper" threads and posts to read? Clicking on it to find it's just advertising for something you're not looking for can be a pain - imagine how it would be if half the threads were like it.
A possible solution: A separate spam/advertisers section, so it doesn't all get mixed up with the general content of the forum? Then you can just ignore it easily, or have a dip if you're looking for a particular service?

WD, have you never met a very good mechanic who's English was not perfect? Guy's just an independent trying to make a living, and could be useful to some on this forum, I don't see anything wrong with that per se. Although I do admit, better to make your advertising clear and concise if you want to attract custom.

I rated it funny that you found it funny.

That in itself, is funny.

rulez is rulez, unless you're paying admin a subscription Wink

I think Opie Oils are more widely accepted because they don't just advertise.

They do free competitions, forum exclusive deals and offer advice.

Same with motad, blatant advertising, but coupled with helpful advice and deals.

They also both have the advantage of being National, this post may have been better received in the Wales Section.

There's nothing exclusive about any of their 'deals' They post the same stuff to loads and loads of different forums. It's just spam dressed up in a way that means they don't have to pay to advertise anywhere cos people think that they're getting an exclusive deal.

Do you really trust someone who advertises their buisness in text speak to work on your bike?

I don't think the 2 are directly proportionate.

Good thing you're not running my BUSINESS.

Anyway, my dad is a mechanic, been doing it for like 200 years now, good mechanic? Yes. Good at TEH INTENETZ? No.

Would I have him fix my car? Yes. Online marketing campaign? No.
