Thanks...

You now fill in the bits where the dots are. It's called politeness. You've joined a forum and it is a tad rude to just wade in with demands or begging for help. It's kind of like a shag with no foreplay, it works but it's not as nice.

A marque active in the early 1920s, Bown was revived as the name for a revised version of the Aberdale autocycle in 1950. Like most of its independent contemporaries, Wales-based Bown relied on Villiers engines and soon added a lightweight motorcycle powered by the 98cc 1F unit to its range followed by a 122cc model with the 10D engine. Production of Villiers-engined machines appears to have ceased in the mid-1950s, Bown relying on Austrian Fichtel & Sachs power units thereafter.

I'm sure to be original and fit with his bike (as new paint isn't as good as old paint and won't match etc etc etc - Tef can explain why I'm sure) it needs to be brown,

Don't get the chap's hopes up with red.

Have you looked into having one fabricated, there are companies out there who can make bespoke reproductions or is cost an issue?

Hi Chris,
Remember, you're not charged by the word here Very Happy
Found a pic of a 1947 autocycle, looks like a pre Villiers engine
( the 1950 red one looks Villers-ish anyway)
If you have the original, albiet tatty one
I'd be looking to see if I could get one made as well
Edit:
Just found out it is a Villiers! called a Junior. 98cc

How bad is the original tank ?
If its say rotted out at the bottom, a repair or partial rebuild
may be feasible

Wow, how random - I do happen to have a good quality one kicking around waiting for just such an interaction on the internet from such a charismatic and long serving member of the forum.

You passed the test - see kids that's how it's done Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Welcome Chris, I hope you find your tank. I have a friend who has a mountain of parts some dating way back - it's a long shot but I'll ask him.
Re-manufacturing might not be as expensive as you think. Worth asking around about that too.

Pete.

Thats much nicer and look, a nice green blob to go with it (that means its good).

On a serious note though. Good luck getting the part. Is there no way you could get one fabricated? I know it wouldnt be original and all that but.... at a push?

A bit of googling shows one in the states from July this year.

https://macc.mxf.yuku.com/topic/16812382/Autocycle-Tank

If you're willing to pay that sort of postage cost it may be worth signing up and seeing if the guy still has it.
