I see 125's are taking over the lead sales on most styles of bike - I wonder how long it'll be before we get 125 tourers or sport/tourers heading the tables Confused (maybe someone should chat to Garth, only question would be whether a Chinese C90 is just a tourer or a full blown sport/tourer? Wink )

I can justify that label for them. Adventure because of breaking down frequently in the middle of nowhere, and sport, as in gambling, cos you're taking one if you buy it?

I read 696 bikes in supersport class were registered last months and thought - not bad Thinking Then I read the highest registering model in supersport class was Yamaha YZF-R125 with 119 bikes registered Laughing
Now add to that all those CBR125s, Ninja 250/300s and CBR250s. Maybe a handful of Fireblades or R1s registered.

Popularity of BMW R1200GS surprises me. Why do people desire those bohemoths so much?

I think it's because they have this kinda "go-anywhere" adventure vibe. I mean why wouldn't you want one of these-

Granted they get a lot of stick for various things (usually the people riding them), I gather they are good all round bikes if you ever actually do any off road riding. Otherwise buy a VFR and drive it through some dirty puddles.

Yup, this is the time of year when big bikes sales go into hibernation and Lexmoto / Pulse (same company) starts to shine.

They did 600 bikes this month, that's good going. Putting the Adrenaline in as an Adventure Sport looks a bit cheeky, but there isn't a supermoto category and it's not a trail bike. Could you call it an enduro? Maybe, but that's what BMW call my GS, when most folk would call it an Adventure Sport, or just a poncy Ewan-and-Charleymobile-Lite. It's all just labels, man, labels.

Harley just keep on truckin' don't they? You wouldn't think they'd sell them over the winter, but somehow they manage it. I genuinely wonder how many go straight into a garage and onto SORN. Thinking

They are heavy. That's the main reason I wouldn't want one.

Good adventure bike in TV shows when camera crew can help you to pick it up when you drop it in a muddy puddle. Try to ride on alone with nobody around and drop it like that. Quite a different story.

See the Kawasaki Z1000 SX is still topping the Sport/Tour sales. Was considering one of these now they have sorted the ugly pannier mountings.

They have been feast or famine for a long time. I posted a while back on what I think they need to do. Aside from sorting out their models, I mentioned that they should open up schools (well align themselves with some anyway)/pay for learners tests if they buy a new 125, or whatever bike fits the new tests laws.

Oddly enough Honda have started doing something along these lines as a trial down south.

Sure, the Van Van is quirky, but they only sell 100 or so a year. Where's the CBF / YBR competitor? It might be small (or no) margins, but it gets people into your dealers.

Yeah - the vanvan engine is the old GS one, so why not just offer a GS125 with EFI? However, when I had a little go on a YBR (albeit Sinnis), the difference between the Suzuki and the Yamaha engines was huge. The latter was extremely smooth compared to the GN - gear box, everything. I didn't really expect there to be much in it - but it was obvious. And this was one fresh out of the crate. Try finding neutral on a brand new vanvan. It can take forever.

The people who buy them mostly being accountants, will both likely know that there is a good deal o be had buying over winter and keeping til spring, and have cash spare to be able to leverage such a deal.
