POLITE high vis vests, whats the deal?

Ain't that a little bit like impersonating a police officer? Does a pissed off copper who is having a bad day and looking for any excuse have any reasonable grounds to pull you over and give you a lecture?

I haven't even decided that I want to wear it yet even though it was free, but I chuckled at the thought of people thinking it's a copper for a minute and chucking their phones on the passenger seat

Saw one of these recently.

I don't really get the logic, tbh. You either fail to spot rider in high vis, sat atop a significant lump of horseflesh, yet a "polite" message looking a bit like a police logo, that you might have to squint to read, will make a difference? Alternatively, you spot horseflesh and rider but are too much of a tosser to care, yet a "polite" message looking a bit like a police logo, that you might have to squint to read, will make a difference? Only time I can see that it might help is if people actually mistake it for a police logo and it actually fulfills the purpose of impersonating a police officer (on casual inspection at least). Or am I missing something?
