Bonjour.

Following BCF advice I decided not to go for the last 'offering' (ER5), and ive still not fixed the zx6r.

So, potentially offered the following...

Triumph Tiger 885 (Carb model)
Running
No Tax / MOT
Coolant leak

£400

Thats pretty much all I know about it, although google suggests head gasket leaks are common on these.

Im toying with the idea of taking a punt and getting a mechanic to sort the gasket.

Anyone any experience of HG repairs on them and / or costs involved?

Anyone any experience of this type of bike?

All replies appreciated as usual!

Cheers!

Leaking coolant could be one of many problems and end up being a money pit. Especially if you get someone else to do it.

They aren't that good a bikes anyway. I get Triumph triple's (885 and 955's) in for work all the time. In fact, 50% of my work is on Triumphs and most of it is repair/remedial work.

They are a pig to work on too.

If you want it, knock him down as far as possible.

Beware the dreaded starter clutch problems on these bikes, total engine strip to repair and a common/expensive problem.
