Probably a long post, but thought I'd mention my recent experience with my insurance as you often hear about the bad, rather than the good.
I've just purchased a Lifan 'Dax' copy and had been looking around at insurance for it. I already have my Fazer insured through Bikesure, so I called them up to see about multibike vs new policy costs. Initial person I spoke to seemed helpful, he took my details and called me back and talked through a few options. Decided it would be cheaper to start a new policy this time rather than having to cancel my fazer policy to take out a multibike (fazer underwriter wont insure chinese bikes), plus each policy will gain its own no claims etc. The price was ok, so I went ahead with it.
Email came through with my documents, I checked everything over and noticed 2 mistakes. Firstly, they had put the year in as a 2010, when it is a 58 plate, and secondly, they had put my no claims bonus as 3 years, and were requesting proof. My no claims is currently in use on my Fazer. No problem, I thought, I'll call them back.
Spoke to a lady, explained the situation, she amended the year, and reset the no claims, and then said "that's come up with a charge of a further £88" That's almost double the policy cost...
I obviously said I wasn't going to pay for his mistake, he knew my no claims were in use as the policy was also with Bikesure, and I agreed to the price he had said at the time. She said she would investigate the conversation (I presume listened to the call recordings) and call me back the following day.
Basically they have now 'mirrored' my no claims discount on the 2nd policy, all details sorted, no extra cost.
So, whilst they had made the mistake initially, and obviously they want my business and money, its nice to see they honoured that, and resolved it to my satisfaction.
Cool Story Bro etc etc... |

Bikesure demanded I paid the entire years policy on the CR as I'd used it for two months (engine failiure, was paying monthly)
They also took it upon themselves to add legal cover to my policy and breakdown cover when I'd specificly asked them not to - I had to call up and get them to take that back off & even then they complained about doing it!
They also spent months threatening to cancel the KTM insurance when I told them I did not have a paper counterpart that I could send them due to a DVLA fuck up.
Customer service has been very poor from them on three occasions & I wouldn't reccomend them to anyone unless you're taking out TPO cover & because it's the cheapest option out there.

Oh, that's a shame Iain, I pay all mine upfront, and my policy says 60% refunded after 2 months (just checked the booklet).
Thankfully I've yet to need to claim, but I suppose insurance is just one of those things depending on which day of the week, which way the wind is blowing, what colour socks you have on etc as to whether you have a good experience or not. |

Meh, I've used bikesure too, seemed fine to me.
They will try to renew your policy without asking, so ring and make sure 'Auto-renewal' is off.
They will obviously be helpful if your wanting to take out more business with them, the real test if what happens if you need to make a claim.
In the end I got rid as they couldn't compete with Wicked quotes.
