It's been nearly 5 years since I first preached of the joys of heated gear. In that time I have used full heated kit and had heated seats on all my bikes, I'm just about to get a proper heated seat built for Lozzy's ER6 and just wondered if anyone else had come over to the warm side?

I used my Keis inner gloves for the first time today and apart from making my gloves feel like oven gloves for feel they worked far, far better than heated grips. I bought the heat controller too and had them on minimum all day, they're a lot of faffing about though, suppose I will get used to them.

No heated gear but did fit my muffs for the first time, be an interesting ride with them. Considering they are supposed to fold in according to reviews at higher speed.

You can't go above 50mph on you 1 mile commute. You will be fine.

Before learning that bikes are actually shit for winter and buying a car I used heated gloves, waistcoat and socks. Combined with a waterproof oversuit I was toasty.

I bought an electric vest in 1997, still wear it occasionally, although it tends to unzip from the bottom up, due to the start of a pot belly.

I have had two pairs of heated gloves, both eventually stopped working, switched to a second hand pair of those Pathan two fingered gloves which have been pretty good on really cold days.

I have the Keis X10 heated vest, got it last year after i had to travel around to sites during winter for civil engineering.. After a while i just kept getting cold whatever i wore.

Its nice having something actively heating you!

Battery packs are friggin expensive though....

Is that so the R6 stays shiny?

Maybe one day I'll get myself some heated socks and gloves...I definitely need them. Thumbs Up I get cold finger tips in cold weather when not riding the bike. Rolling Eyes

I agree cars are good in cold and ice. Unfortunately I have no license and live on the edge of the congestion zone so it costs me to pull away from the house in a car.

I really don’t think the CG would be up for powering heated stuff, but given my commute is maybe 3 miles it doesn't really make a load of difference to me anyway

I have muffs and heated grips along with half decent winter gear, but then my commute is only about 25mile per day.

Main thing for me was getting a bike more suitable to ride through the winter. The ZRX is a bit too heavy/bulky/powerful to ride through the really bad weather, where the NTV seems perfect for it.

Although this will probably be my last year on the bike due to the need for 4 wheels for work.

If I had some extra spare cash, I'd definitely get some heated gloves and maybe a couple of other items too.

Got lost yesterday and it was dark and very cold by the time I got home, my hands were in a fair bit of pain due to being so bloody cold.

Definite convert here. I don't wear the heated jacket often, but if I'm on a longer run that's heading out of the city, I will, and it's awesome.

I have been tempted but always been put off by the wires for the clothing and some of the horror stories when they go wrong.

I heated seat sounds like a goer. I need to recover the commuter cb500 so may look into that.

Sickpup, where are you getting your heated seat built, what parts? I understand they're popular in the USA from my googles trying to source bits. Although I'm also thinking a gel insert might be the way to go, all year round comfort then.

I think I'd be happy with something like the Aerostich Roadcrafter suit (2nd mortgage permitting). Wear to work and then unzip and remove, while wearing suit underneath, in the best James Bond style.

Gel inserts are not a year round comfort thing, they freeze solid in the cold. Heated pads I use are these. They aren't incredibly flexible so tend to make the seat firmer. I have the seats recovered by Lee at Viking motorcycle seats in Kent.

I have decent non heated kit, heated grips, handguards and a bit of body fat to keep me warm.

This morning I had on. From head to toe.

Polar Buff,
Triumph Jacket
shirt
HG Lobster gloves
Levis
Daytona GTX Boots.

I was toastie. Laughing

When it gets really cold(or wet) I put textile trousers on but for the most point don't feel the need.

Or buy the better quality Rukka GoreTex ones for £100 or less.

I too like my HG Pathan gloves.
Nice to know I can get them from HG Germany via their website.
Currently on offer for 48 Euros and 10 Euros posting to Vereinigtes Königreich (UK) via DHL. So ballpark £47. Are the Rukka really twice as good?
