Going to be sensible this time and get some muffs. Tucano obviously seem to be the name everyone goes on about.

I'm looking at these https://www.urbanrider.co.uk/bike-accessories/vespa/px-pk-hp/tucano-urbano-r333-universal-handlebar-muffs.html

Anyone got them? I'll be fitting to a '94 CBR 600f. Should fit alright eh?

Oooooh a new type? They look rather good, although the window is unnecessary.

I have the R321 muffs: https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=231946

fitted to a CBR6f, they are excellent. Properly waterproof, fit well, secure, durable, easy to get hands in and out, don't press on controls, controls accessible etc etc.

It's a shame that you didn't strap a full petrol can on the back. That would have saved you a walk. It would have saved us all a giggle as well....

Personally I like the R361, secured using a longer handlebar weight bolt and a large repair washer. I don't use the cable ties to keep things attached.

I've ordered some Tucano Urbanos today, £33 on Amazon including delivery. I'm going to leave it as long as possible before I put them on, though.

Feasibly, you could wait until the first stages of frostbite.

It (or rather I) will be treated to a set of heated hand-grips almost immediately after Crimbo.

If you are riding a bike with your ankles up round your shoulders, what difference does the temperature make? Every journey is like spending time in Fred West's dungeon....

One reason I prefer half-faired bikes is you can lean down and warm a hand on the engine casing.

Because even commuter bikes are there for riding!

(By the way - my post was going to say 'or looking at the bike on your mantle piece'... then I realised it was an FZR Wink.)

I have always been wary of how much they affect the controlling ability that is why I have never tried muffs. Good thing I do not ride for extended periods, though warm hands would be nice.

Worried that you'll gain considerably better control from your not-cold hands? Confused

They do take a little time to get used to putting your hands back in when you've taken them out to wipe the visor or similar, but you soon get used to it if you persist.

The neoprene boxer mitt ones, very slightly on the indicators.

The vinyl ones that cover all the controls, square root of sod all.

Unless you're in the habit of looking at your hands while riding?

Where I got mine https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111517435882 £35 with free delivery.

And they are as good as everyone says. Before I was getting numb fingers after 45 minutes on the bike riding home, now my fingers are lovely and warm, still wearing summer gloves.

They take about 5 minutes to get used to, and control is the same as with no muffs, it's like wearing summer gloves. Funny that... Very Happy

I'll have to try them at some point I suppose.

The only time my fingers have ever gone really cold that I had to get off the bike for a respite was on my mod1 training. It was not a good feeling.
