Gecko brand clutch plates

Hi all, I'm going to be needing some clutch plates soon for my 1994 CB250 and wondered if anyone has done a long term test on the Gecko plates being sold by Wemoto? The most info I can find on the web is "I put them in, they seem alright" but if they only last a few thousand miles or something stupid then I'll spend a bit more on a known good set, probably EBC.

I'm particularly interested in the quality of the steel plates they sell - how well they are finished, if they glide up and down easily and all that. The clutch in this engine smooths them off for some reason and they are likely the cause of the slip until the engine is fully warm, but while I'm in there I'll replace the friction plates as well. I have fitted Kyoto friction plates and whatever the pattern ones are from Wemoto before this and the combo has only lasted 27K miles, but if the Gecko plates will do this then it should about see out the life of the bike. Anyway, rambling now..

TL;DR are Gecko clutch plates any good?

never noticed what brand plates i got from wemoto last time,
but they are still running in my tdm850 with no issues,
factory plates lasted 28k miles, ive done 10k since the change,

wemoto stuff is usually ok, and i doubt there is much in it between steel plate brands

These Gecko plates have been available since May 2012, I would guess they replaced Kyoto as the budget option but they may have been sold side by side for a while. Do you know when you replaced yours?

I agree that Wemoto stuff is sound, I've used their gaskets and oil seals without problems. It's just that a set of clutch plates from an otherwise unknown brand is a bit of a leap of faith, even with Wemoto's backing.

If its from Wemoto then its generally ok. If you trawl Ebay for the cheapest then thats generally when the quality dips.

i changed mine, 3 months ago, i went on a euro trip down to the bottom of romania, hence the high mileage since then,
probably was the geeko plates then.
