WOW!,

I popped into Newcombes of Chelmsford for a nose around today, and I saw the new 2005 Derbi offerings, the GPR50 was very nice, but they do a new naked version, and if I was 16 I know what bike I would want! Razz Razz Razz

.....mind you, I didn't fancy the look of the pillion seat, its sort of diamond shaped, but my television remote is bigger Crying or Very sad

I prefer tha naked version. Can't really see the pillion seat being a big selling point anyway, seeing as at 16 on a 50 you can't carry pillions anyway. Smile

The front of the naked reminded me of the triumph speed triple:

I prefer the faired version myself, wouldnt want to go pillion on it though, look at the size of the seat!

believe me pillions never were too happy on them Very Happy Nearly gave my sis a heart attack.

As for performance, you would be surprised. All they lack is the lump, everything else is absolutely top notch (well, cept the fairing quality... made of recycled wheelie pins and held together with treasury tags) and it certainly handled well. And considering its displacement it certainly went well. If i could have been arsed to spend lots of money making it less reliable and devaluing it (cans, bore, filters, carb, etc) then im sure it would have been blinding
Ive heard of one done up to 23 brake.

But personally for that cash, might as well just buy a mito Rolling Eyes

I must admit both look spunk, but the costs of these bikes? If they were 2500 quid a piece, i'd suggest these kids get their heads checked before committing to buying one - a CBR125 costs as much, used NSRs will no doubt be cheaper, and so is my XR!! But they look soo cool.

Is it me or are the sizes and proportions on that bike very small?

They have got the performance to match. Managed to get my old derbi pumping out [email protected] with supper knobbly off road rubber.

It was running a cast MK topend, so if it had the OE cylinder with the extra 1000rpm it would of made more.

There's something about 'peds though. Every time i see one i want to get one and enter the moped racing series!

The performance of the 50cc version is well up there with anything else on the market, supposedly makes the most power of all the 50cc, about 10.2 bhp with the new generation derbi 50cc engine.

My 2001 gpr i brought for £2250 with insurance at £260, that still had a good engine, certainly on an equal to the aprillia rs50.

The GPR125 is ment to struggle though as it uses as tzr engine and only produces 23~24 bhp. Hopefully Derbi make there own engine for it with a bit more power!

The 125 uses the dt125 engine, same as the tzr125, putting out abut 22bhp.

I'd say the gpr125 will max at about 90.

Have you seen the faired bike in yellow. Shocked

Im considering buying one.

They aren't as quick as the old GPR50 because of the emission restrictions. The 125 version only puts out about 20 bhp so i would have thought the 50 will be down on power aswell, for a 2 stroke anyway.

A friend of mine had a GPR125, restricted it topped out at 83. None of the dealers knew how to de-restrict. But hes banned from driving now due to being twice over the limit and hes fucked his gpr. A good way to waste 5k eh??

My mate was ripped off worse.
Bought a Reiju RS2 50cc on finance.
The bike eventually cost him £6.5k.
This is absolutely no joke!

It may be worth the money, but why not spend less, buy a derbi senda put a 80 kit on it, boost bottle bigger carb and better pipe and go a lot faster.

The senda is the most powerful 50 as standard comes at 10 bhp, with the kit i mentioned can be taked up to about 15bhp.

Mate of mine just sold his 03 reg with the same gear on it for £1100. half the price of the gpr and faster!
