The price of something is entirely determined by the price that those are willing to pay for it.

While the vendor can stamp their feet and say it's worth £x it is not a completed sale and therefore not a determined price.

The fact that you've not sold it for £x demonstrates it is not worth £x.

If say Warburtons suddenly put their prices up to £100 a loaf would we buy it? nope we would go buy Hovis at £1.20 instead.

The buyer only cares about how good of a deal you’re offering, relative to other deals on the market.

Probably just optimistic offers. I sometimes make low offers on the off chance they'll take it. Sometimes takes a few cycles round eGay before it sells.

Best to have a look for other bikes for sale to get an idea of it's value.

Ebay is full of dreamers. Years ago I has a cg125 up for sale that did eventually sell for about £600.

People were making offers of £200-£300 and someone wanted to do a swap for a ps2 Very Happy

People these days know the price of everything and the value of nothing, grumble, grumble Rolling Eyes

You can't put a fixed value on something. People will offer different amounts depending on their situation (I need a bike right now, here's yer £2k, or, I can wait this out til the seller gets desperate to be shot of it), depending on the weather (winter innit, should be cheaper at the moment), etc.

I have no idea what they usually go for in this condition and mileage, but if I was looking to buy it, you can bet I'd arm myself with that information first. As I would if I was selling it. Have you?

And did they make you an offer?

Workmate has an essentially identical bike, with lower mileage. He also got offered derisory amounts for it. Even the local Suzuki dealer didn't want it. He's now riding it through the winter in the hope that things will change in the spring.

I suspect it's not that they're bad bikes, just that nobody who really wants a bike wants a Bandit. It's the bike that you settle for when you realise that can't afford the one that you want.

Sorry. Live the dream.

Chickenstrip I keep an eye on eBay for bandit k8s and I know they go for around the money I'm asking and some go for a lot more. some of them are proper sheds. I'm not desperate so I'll just bide my time.

Rogerborg the dealer didn't make me an offer,I just asked his advice for what it was worth, I know a lot of people don't think much of bandits but I think they are a good all rounder for not too much money.
I see bike with less miles on that are right dogs,I'd rather have a high mileage bike that's been cared for.

Are you assuming that a closing price represents the amount of money that actually changes hands?

eBay is riddled with drunks, fantasists, mongs, and crooked shill bidders ensuring that their real account gets to make a lower 2nd chance offer after they pretend to be one of the above.

Prove me wrong, hold out for £2K.

To be fair, I'm in exactly the same boat with my GS. It turns out that "book" price is like book learning - all fine and good in theory. Wink

Also what have you got it on for? If you want 2k, I'd have it on for £2150 or something.

But 2 grand for a Bandit..

Put my 2004 bandit 600 on Gumtree for £2500, within 5 minutes of listing I had a phone call, within 30 mins of listing the guy bought it from me.

Didn't even test ride, paid in cash and was mega happy, best 35 mins of bike selling ever.

And yes good bandits do sell for £2k

Maybe why people are trying to snaffle it for £1500.

If these are offers via PM on ebay, they're usually chancers. Had it heaps of times on heaps of bikes, just let the auction run and it'll find it's true value.

Buyer knows that bikes sell for less in winter so makes cheeky offer in the off chance that the seller will say yes. He plays the numbers game by asking lots of people until one says yes.

I've made cheeky offers for stuff on ebay, and people have said yes before. It works well if you don't need to buy now, and can hold out for a bargain.

It works extra well in November and January when you know people who are selling probably need the cash, and the bike is sat there doing nothing

It had only been up since the afternoon? Be patient.
I put my VL800 on Ebay for £3050. Had a few scrotes saying, 'wud ya swap 4 a mint tl1000 wiv some cash ur way', and others offering £2500 etc etc.

A couple days later a guy 50 miles away expressed interest, came and paid £3000 in cash (what i wanted for it), just got to hold out.
