Ok since I am a self declared muppet, while doing an oil change, I managed to spill a bit of oil over the concrete garage floor.

Does anyone know the best way to remove the remnants of it? I'm not too keen on potentially getting oil wall over my nice new michelins

the only thing I`ve had any real success with is petrol... I doesn`t get rid but washes it further into the concrete ... clean the excess with a cotton rag .. this will also remove some of the surface oil.

Normally use fullers earth to soak up oil spills.

Handily, cheap cat litter is made of fullers earth. Sprinkle plenty on, let it sit for a bit then sweep it back and forth over the spill, shovel it up and you're good. It will probably still mark the concrete.

Cement dust/plaster used in the same way after the fullers earth does an even better job.

Biological washing powder. Sprinkle it on, then add a little water until it becomes a paste. Leave for a couple of days before washing off. Works a little better if its slightly warmer than your average garage in winter

This is why I keep meaning to paint my garage floor. Your always going to get oil on the floor doing oil changes. If it's painted you can just wipe it off.

There's a small patch of my garage floor which isn't oil soaked. I'll get it yet though!

I've used washing powder on the driveway for some years now with great success although when using it outdoors it's not necessary to dampen it, just leave it until the rain washes it away, and the oil stains with it. We've got red brick block paving and SWMBO gives great grief when oil finds it's way onto it.............Surf saves the day every time!

Sooooo . . .
Between 23:56 and tomorrow you'll have tried

Flour
Petrol (+ cotton rag)
A pneumatic drill
Fuller's earth
Cement
Plaster
Biological washing powder
Brake cleaner
G101
Lambrini
Washing-up liquid
A power washer
Sand
Nuking the site from orbit
A rug

If you need a hand laying a new concrete floor just give us a shout, yeah?
Alternatively, a postcard from New Zealand wouldn't go amiss!

Aldi. Cheap as chips washing up liquid. Pour over stain and let it sink in. Boil water and throw over and scrub with a deck brush. Done.

Next time get floor paint as spills wash away easy or get an old carpet tile.

My garage has carpet and a rug on top.... Be arsed is I'm working on cold concrete...

I know a guy who does a cheap (well priced) tarmac job, only thing he requires is space to park his caravan and somewhere to tie up his daag, to be sure, be sure.
