As normal in my sad life, I had nothing better to do than trawl thief-bay to look at things I cant afford.
So there I was looking at Honda Superdream stuff because I still need a few bits for mine.
I looked at 250 bikes as well and found this Shocked Eh?
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-CB250-Super-Dream-/151394476072?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item233fd06028

Now it may be very well restored, but two and a half grand for a poopydream Shocked Shocked kin ell!.

So what bikes have you looked at and thought about buying and then been shocked by the asking price?

There's a C90 for sale by a dealer who specialise in rare bikes, in this month's Classic Bike magazine. The only information they give is, "economy concours show bike."

Of course, the humble C90 is a very rare and endangered species. Isn't it?

To you sir....£2980.

Anyone here to whom an immaculate C90 is worth that much? I wouldn't care if it had zero miles on it, you couldn't get me to part with 3 grand for a C90.

Yeah I saw that a few times in my shopping for a bike for the past few months, I laughed every time I accidently viewed it again.
Looks good condition for what it is, but as someone who couldn't give a shit about his or his bikes appearance, that superdream is one UGLY motherfucker.

Get in quick, because "first to view will buy".

You're lucky that they keep it under wraps, in the Back Room of Mysteries.

And then he should be taken outside and summarily shot. Because you know there's always some idiot who will pay that, and he is spoiling the biking experience for everyone.

I don't tend to look at or dwell on prices of classic bikes, as they are far from a necessity if your hard up broke?

But yeah some old bikes can't always call them classics, are going for silly money and in logical terms are never worth it.

If it pulls at your heartstrings and nostalgia value/takes you back to another time/place in your life, then if you can afford it who can put a price on that?

But as for a £2500 Superdream, it's not a sensible logical buy unless you had to have a mint example. If I needed to get to work everyday and had the same £2500, a deliberate classic would go out of the window, and an average common 90's sportsbike would be a better buy and more useable too!

I can remember someone offering me a 250 Superdream for 50 quid and me turning it down. How times have changed. Every old bike is now a 'much sought after classic', thanks to misty eyed nostalgics.

My 97 Fireblade is on the verge of classicdom. I might let someone here have it now for £5000.

Pm me if interested.

Anybody?

They're just trying their luck. Why not stick it up at a stupid price for a few months, you never know some mug might come along and buy it. If it doesn't sell just gradually start knocking it down. Makes sense if you ask me.

Even brand new bikes are grotesquely overpriced for what you get.

I'd pay 2k for a good condition 125lc
I payed 2k for my brand new YBR 125.I didn't plan on taking my test for years and thought hmm new 4 stroke bike, reliable etc.
But with hindsight I should have got a nice RD and had fun.
I like superdreams but no, wouldn't pay 2.5k for one.

So, £2500 for a 39k 1980 250cc wet dream or £900 for a 39k 1990 1k cc Exup?

Hmmm......

Aye, I live a stones throw away from them and unless it's stuff under warranty that I need doing, I wouldn't touch them. Their prices on everything are stupidly high but, when you see how many staff they have, it's hardly surprising.

They do have a decent amount of stock though.

I'm really tempted to buy that gas turbine thingy.

Not so much that its ridiculously expensive, but more that its completely impractical for me to actually own.

But its kinda cool.
