In September this year, the first prototype was born and as we speak the company is preparing their limited production of this thing. The motorcycle is designed by a former Bugatti designer Daniel Simon, who's apperentely gonna discuss the paint job of of the motorcycle with each individual customer.
Unofficial price of the motorcycle is between 60,000 and 90,000 pounds. The engine is a KTM RC8R and the frame is made by Kalex - a subsidiary company of the Holzer Group, the USD forks are from Sachs and the rear shocks are from Öhlins. The brakes are from Brembo and the wheels are made of carbon by BST. 100 motorcycles to be made, each customer may chose the VIN code of the frame. Once all the C-01 are sold, the company will start work on the C-02.

KTM - Engine
Kalex - Frame
Sachs - Suspension
Öhlins -Suspension
Brembo -Brakes
BST - Wheels

Apart from "fugliness" and branding WTF are "Lotus" actually bringing to the table?

Butter - Anchor
Flour - Homepride
Sugar - Tate & Lyle
Eggs - Happy Egg Company
Cocoa powder - Cadbury
Icing sugar - Silver Spoon

It's a list of ingredients but it's not a cake, is it?

So taking your analogy, we'd say:
Coal - Miners inc.
Iron - Western iron ltd.
Aluminium - Eastern mine
Oil - Petrol company
... and I could go on.

Do you see my point here? Taking finished parts right out of the box and just putting them together is not the same as having the raw materials. Thumbs Up

IMO, Lotus are merely trading on the cache of their name in the hope that someone, with more money than sense, will stump up the cash for the motorcycle equivalent of a coffe table book!
Cruiser geometry combined with sport bike seating/body positioning, what's the point?

Emperors new clothes! Thumbs Down

On the upside the owners of these bikes will, no doubt, singlehandedly, keep wax and polish manufacturers going for a few more years!

Exclusivity and a branded high end(ish) name. That bike offers nothing that cannot be done better elsewhere for far less, apart from simply being exclusive and overpriced, therefore desirable.

All about the ego and how to tap it to get into peoples pockets Thumbs Up

Lets see, 60k to 90k. I could take a two year sabbatical with that kind of cash. Do a full time welding and fabrication course and a course in carbon fibre fabrication. Rent a workshop. Buy the engine wheels and brakes. Fabricate a frame and stick it all together. In fact I could probably do that for less than 60k.

I actually like the Lotus bike but for 60k plus its a joke
