Just had to skid to a stop for a couple of metres down a side road because this no-headlights-dickhead (no indicator either) decides he's going to pull out in front of me from the long line of parked cars on the left, as if I have fucking x-ray vision and mind-reading capabilities at 2 in the fucking morning when I'm tired and need to get home. I wasn't even speeding, I don't speed down side roads.

Also had another dickhead behind me prior to this and I didnt even know he was there because again, no fucking headlights or even parking lights, NOTHING. Where do these cunts come from, seriously?

My rational/very-tired-from-work side got the better of my judgement and I decided not to chase him down and beat the ever living fuck out of him, however I'm now starting to wish I at least kicked the lights out on his car because he obviously fucking doesn't use them.

I also got flashed by a speed camera doing 50 odd in a 40 (dual carriageway) and it must be a new fucking camera because I've done 60-70 through that bit and never been flashed there.

Oh yeah and that dog pissed on my almax again Sad how can I keep the fucker away from that lamp post? Like putting stuff dogs hate around that bit so the dog don't go there, or something.

I'm super wound up now, so I'm going to eat my free garlic pizza bread and potato wedges while I wallow in self pity and watch pointless YouTube videos. Confused

Btw since this is the first time I've been flashed by a speed camera, do you get points for camera flashes or is that just a fine?

Camera flash = 3 points and a £60 fine normally, possibly a speed awareness course though

Fuck sake. I also just Googled the specific speed camera and its saying this "Red light and speed camera 40 mph (ID: 10507)"

The lights were turning yellow just as I passed through. It's never flashed me when I've sped through at well over the speed limit before on a green light, but this time it flashed when I went through just as it was turning yellow so maybe that could be why it flashed me?

If it was only just turning amber then I doubt you'll be done for going through a red - those things are usually pretty accurate. It's more likely to be for your speed.

If you were doing 50mph, then you'll likely get speed awareness (usually costs about £90) and no points. I'm sure some others will chime in with the exact limits that usually push you past speed awareness and onto points + fines.

From memory, I think you'd need to be doing around 55mph or above to get points and a fine, and up to around 54mph would just be the speed awareness. I could be wrong, and those probably aren't the exact numbers, but I think it's similar to that Smile.

Ahh I'm pretty sure it was below 55.. Last time I glanced at speedo before the flash was on the approach and it read 53. IIRC I wasn't accelerating just cruising at that speed or thereabouts..

I hope I don't hear anything from it.. I also hope I don't get points, don't mind paying £90 to do the shitty course though paydays coming up in the next 2 weeks. Fuck sakes lol.

If you end up with points the fine has gone up to £100.

Also FYI they've changed a whole bunch of traffic light cameras to speed cameras in London so you have to keep an eye out for that.

Speed awareness course wasn't actually all that bad when I did it.

Cars pulling out without looking (or noticing you), cars without lights, cars in front braking suddenly for no reason, cars coming at you on the wrong side of the road - are all things that are likely to happen at any time.

After a few hours of riding, you will learn to make allowances.

Traffic lights though, Amber means 'Stop unless it's unsafe to do so' and always has. You should learn this before you take to the road.

As for Red Light Cameras, you get the benefit of the doubt -
Wikipedia wrote:
Generally the camera is triggered when a vehicle enters the intersection (passes the stop-bar) after the traffic signal has turned red. Typically, a law enforcement official will review the photographic evidence and determine whether a violation occurred.

If you went through on Amber, the picture will show that, and you will be fine.

Faint whiff of road rage...

You might not hear anything, but if you do just deal with it and move on with your life.

So you got caught breaking the law. What are you complaining about, especially as you've got away with far more excessive speeding before.

Can't pay the fine - don't do the crime.

You mean you've never broken the speed limit, ever? I mean I can afford to pay it, but it's just a pain in the arse. Imo speed limit signs are advisory, even though highway code says they're the absolute law.

Another white knight who's never been over the limit because obviously you're so perfect. I ride based on conditions and surroundings. If there's nobody about at 2am and the road is wide open, why the fuck not take it from 40 to 50 odd?

Calling me special needs as if you're some traffic copper, go fuck yourself mate. You're probably that idiot who will happily sit in the outside lane of a dual carriageway at the speed limit making traffic for everyone else Rolling Eyes

I had no idea that some traffic light cameras recorded speed as well.
I've whizzed through many a green light over the speed limit confident
that as long as the lights stay green then the camera won't take a pic.
I guess that I will have to change from now on.

I think the ones that do are meant to be bright yellow like normal speed cameras (though that's based on what I've been told not read as fact).

No I've done my fair share of speeding, motorbikes and cars, been flashed, stopped with a radar gun, etc. Nothing ever happened but it was a cautionary experience and for a reason.

So you're probably a worse offender than I am. How could you give me that response at all when you've also clearly ignored the speed limit signs too then.

Everyone on some level treats speed limit signs as advisory, because the majority of people will sit above or below the speed limit, except for those strictly "I am a law abiding citizen 30 means 30" people.

I ride every single day for anywhere from 3 - 10 hours per day, and the speed limit on any given road is always ignored by the majority of other road users.

That goes without saying, laws are made to be bended, I've got away with 58 in a 40, another time I was chased down by a car and there was a van at the other end, they just wanted to check it wasn't stolen! But that was a 60 limit and there was nothing they could do.

When the M25 was being expanded it was insane, notional 55mph limit thought the cones, and some pretty heavy duty concrete, everyone going about 80...

So its a good job you did not meet you no lights man when you were speeding then.... Laughing

You do realise that a road is just, if not more dangerous @ 02:00 as during the day as you get all the piss heads wandering/driving around without a care in the world.

Yes, and jumped lights and got flashed. I don't bleat about it on internet forums.

Tell it to the magistrates, I think they'll go with the Road Traffic Act rather than your opinion.

Actually you do have those capabilities, sort of.
Forget hazard perception and the laughable idea of dealing with developing hazards.
Driving down a road with parked cars, think to yourself
"what if the next car pulls out? What's my strategy, can I swerve right? or do I slow down a bit so I can brake in time?"

and so on, then when it happens you've already done the 'thinking time' bit of your avoidance manoeuvre and handle it easily.

Anyhow surely you saw his wheels start moving before the vehicle did? Please don't tell me you ignore the wheels of parked cars Shocked
