Just got one of these for the dad in law for xmas as he does a lot of touring... meant to be a manual kind of cruise control on the throttle.

Anyone used one and know if its actually any good?

Not entirely sure how it works as there are no instructions but its got a circular bit that goes round the throttle and then a longer piece of plastic.

Is that one of these things?

https://www.ekho.com/elton/PC800/images/THROTTLE1.jpg

I used one on the BCF Wales/France trip this year.

Worked really well on motorways but tended to get in the way on the twisty stuff and around town.

Got one and use it on the Pan.

They do work well but I found it a bit annoying at first, if it's in the wrong place it can hold the throttle open slightly against your palm. Just a matter of setting it right though.

I busted a load of bones in my right hand and thumb joint years ago and I was starting to get bad pain from the beginnings of arthritis on long trips. The cramp buster, along with a set of heated grips, has really helped.

Well worth a few quid. Thumbs Up

I have one.

Rate it very highly.

I put mine far over on the right so it is mostly out of the way until I am on the motorway. It's a pain in the ass if it is set wrong, so spend some time getting it in a good position and set well.

I had a DIY one before this, it was fine but looked crappy enough that a family member bought me a crampbuster, either through shame or sympathy, not sure.

I use them on long trips too.
Ideal for the times you have to resort to the motorway (or Autobahn).
Just twist it out the way for town riding, no hassle.
I'd recommend.

FWIW I have the original thin version and the fatter version as pictured. The fatter version works for me better as I can use the heal of the palm easier.

This is what I do.

Just don't try and get it out of the way by twisting it downwards like I did the first time. Laughing

Lidl Maisgeschmackkohlenhydratmischung.

I have a couple, and love them. Simple idea, works very well.

Someone mentioned that if you slip it half over the bar end weight it acts like cruise control, i.e. it doesn't allow the throttle to go back unless you twist it back.

I find they work well on my NC750, which only needs a small change in throttle when you get to a hill, but they werent much good on smaller bikes, because you often want a greater change in throttle position.

No, they make it so you can operate the throttle without gripping it.

You can do both. Rest your palm on it and it's sort of a cruise control. Easy to increase the speed though. Otherwise you can still twist the throttle in either direction.

Only for the limp-wristed among us Wink

As it happens, I'm about to do a long motorway journey, I may look into one of these for the way back if they're useful!

Perhaps in those 50mph stretches where you're in bike-limbo.

It's more to do with reducing the need to grip the throttle.

i.e. wankers don't need them.

That's like saying my Van has cruise control as long as I leave my foot in the exact same place.

The CD200 has it too I believe, as long as I dont move my hand.

Laughing

I have one, takes a little getting used to, but good on the motorway. Wasn't so great when I was cruising on the motorway at 70mph before hitting a load of traffic and had to start filtering, didn't like it when I had to do lots of throttle movement.

I was looking into one of these a while ago,

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HIGH-QUALITY-Omni-Universal-Motorcycle-Cruise-Control-System-Made-in-the-USA-/191440943462?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item2c92c4f966

wondered it they are any good/worth it.

Any feedback on it ?
Seems easier to keep out of the way and negates the need of adding/keeping pressure on it once engaged.
