You can cover a lot of ground in 21 days and the Rockies will only fill part of it IMHO.

Ouray is a really nice little town to base yourself for a few days and the Black Bear Manor B&B was one of the nicest places I've stopped in.

I'd also include the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Monument Valley and Moab in that timescale as they are simply stunning places Thumbs Up

I flew into Billings Montana picked up a hire car, after driving up the beartooth pass we entered Yellowstone and stayed for a few days to see the park, we then headed south going down the Eastern side of the rockies via the Teton national park on the 191, the scenery changes every 1/2 hour, arrived in Moab (Utah) and did Canyonlands and Arches national parks before heading East on the I70 to Denver stopping at Aspen on the way for a couple of nights.
We stayed ad hoc in Motels (except Yellowstone where we had booked before hand into the Lake Yellowstone hotel)

One thing to note, if you see a filling station, don't pass it by, as the next one could be hundreds of miles down the road !

The 2012 trip cost nearly £8k as bikes cost around £2.3k for 16 days hire Shocked This also included a helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon and UTV rental in Ouray and Moab for an afternoon/evening.

This years trip cost about £4.8k as the car was "only"'£600, the exchange rate was better and we don't eat or drink as much nowadays. It did include a few expensive nights at the Grand Canyon Lodge North Rim and The View Hotel Monument Valley, but they were worth the expense for the views Laughing
