 |
|
Just out of interest and no real reason other than curiosity .
I was talking to someone who was saying that with one of the newer 250 Chinese bikes, that to get them through European emission regs , the fuel injection is toned down and the exhaust or airbox are restrictive?
I have no idea if what he was saying is true.
He said that in other countries the said bikes will have their fuel injection whipped off and a carb put in it`s place.
Allegedly this will gain 6 or 7 bhp , making the bike that much more usable and not such a slug?

Could there be some truth in this?
Could we be missing out on a very cheap 250 that actually CAN cut it in town? ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

I'd probably say they are real ponies. The 25 to 26bhp jump could well be down to FI being a better fueling method for it. Or could just be a typo
yz250f's are around 36bhp and need rebuilding after so many hours use. If you want more power from the shineray/honda dominator engine then it would probably take a fair bit of work for very little gain (10bhp )
Would probably be better just whacking a yz250f engine in or doing it proper and sticking a 250 2 stroke in for some fun
If the carb did fit, I'd imagine it wouldn't really make much difference besides a bit more fuel consumption and a bit of a throatier sound ____________________ Bandit 600 - deaded |

If you are in that market I wouldn't say it's too bad.
From what I've heard, shineray aren't the worst chinese bikes? I believe they sold a fair few road legal pit bikes which have held up alright
I still think whacking a 2 stroke 250 in it would make it a lot more fun though ____________________ Bandit 600 - deaded |

Careful now, that's how Tef got started. It's all fun and games until someone thrashes out a novella presenting third hand pub chunter as absolute fact. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
