Lost driving license

I've lost both parts of my licence somewhere recently, and have been meaning to eventually get around to reporting it and reluctantly handing over monies to get a replacement.

But is it actually illegal to not report a lost licence as someone at work said they thought it was?

Not illegal as such, but you will be breaching a HO/RT1 seven day order if you're ever pulled by the police and asked to produce documents. I suppose if that did happen, you could immediately send off for one and explain your position to the Police. I wouldn't fancy that though.

If you (or anyone else) has a record of their driving licence number then you can check your entitlements, points, etc. from this government (dvla) site (clicky link).

You need your licence number, NI number and postcode.

Might be useful to check before asking for a new one in case any entitlements are lost with new copy.

The station in Romford (Met) told me they were unable to extend the producer because I was caught by Essex police not met police.

I later found out that was bollocks.

today I have sent off for a replacement licence. I had to tick the change of address, lost and update photo boxes. This could be interesting as each box has a different postal code in DVLA.

I didn't go to court, plead guilty to the speeding by post. Just accepted the refusal to extend the producer part as a good little 18 year old would.

With regards to motorcycles, what does this actually mean?

Stopped moaning and sent off for a new license today. Hope I get my bike entitlement back though too!
