Someone hit it and just drove off by the looks of it. No collar. Quiet residential area in the country, a fairly close community.

I've picked it up off the road and it's in a bag now. What do I do? Put up a notice on the lamp posts? But saying what - can't exactly say 'black and white moggy found dead' can I?!

I'd put it in the brown bin. That's the one we use for garden waste around here.

Put it back where you got it from? Deliver it to the doorstep of one of the nearest houses to where you found it?

Right now you've got a stolen dead cat in your bag. Laughing Thumbs Up

(RSPCA probably best, they'll have ways of disposing of it. Poor owners... definitely get it scanned for a chip, at least the owners will then know what happened)

Call up your local vet and see if they will scan it for a microchip, failing that go to the RSPCA who will dispose of it for you.

Whoever hit it and drove off is a proper twat though Evil or Very Mad

So what's the etiquette for transporting a dead cat on a bike?

Bungees or rucksack?

If it's still warm jam it up your jacket it will act like a hot water bottle.

When I've discovered a dead cat, I've always moved it to a 'safe area', so, out of the road. Leave it nearby, you want the owner to find it, but not necessarily with bits of it missing or squashed.

I most definitely do not want the owner to find it on my patio in a bin bag. Laughing

I've phoned the vets, they'll have it, just got to get it there.

It might be chipped so maybe take it to a local vet at they have scanners. I feel sorry for the owner, maybe put a sign in your post office window saying a black and white cat was found dead in the road and see what happens. Sad, I love cats. Crying or Very sad

This made me laugh. Probably because it reminded me of the time I was at my granddad's funeral, as a kid, and I asked my brother where granddad was and he nonchalantly said "in that box over there". Laughing

Don't be a pussy.

I've hot-jacketed a pair of dead rabbits, double carrier bagged.
