beard trimming

I've been growing mine since Movenber last year and its starting to get a bit messy
and wirey
any tips on keeping it in trim without chopping lumps out of it

I'm thinking of shaving the sides and going back to Goatee as thats how I started
and the main beard is way longer than the sides

What I used to do is take a blade to define the edge, on the face and throat. It'll look heaps better.

Since mine went similarly grey I keep it short, lest I be mistaken for Santa - thus avoiding the threat of pursuit by hordes of street urchins.

I did similar - let a 'movember' continue. Shaved the sides (hair clippers first), then finished off with a 'tache for a bit before getting rid completely.

i tend to trim the sides to the same legnth as the hair on my head, (short)
and leave the goatee area alone,
neck hair gets shaved to keep everything tidy,

my beard doesnt grow in like yours oldpink, mines more along the lines of wiry pubic hair except the mo which for some reason grow straight
