Heads up:

TCX Infinity Gore-Tex boots have been replaced by an "evo" version (metal buckles and a new sole, mainly, so far as I can see); now there's some serious reductions on the original model. Cheapest place I could find was

so I've just ordered a pair. Not a bad price for Gore-Tex boots anyway; and I've always fancied trying a pair of these but they were never on offer when I was shopping before...

Yep, I grabbed a pair for £175 as wanted some Gore-tex boots to replace my trusty Cat's when on weekends out.
The Infinity's are comfy and get good reviews. I think the RRP was about £250, don't think I'd have been too impressed at that price. The little plastic buckles feel delicate and easy to break which is an area they have changed for the evo.

That said, the only other boots I preferred the look of was Sidi Adventure Gore-Tex, which were £315 at the time!

I read through a lot of reviews... lots of people saying the plastic ones felt a bit flimsy, no-one saying they'd actually broken them though. I'll see how they go - I was wondering if you'd be able to swap them for the new ones...

i was looking at them when i got new boots,
definitly made it to the short list, but ended up with the goretex sidi adventures/couriers, and that was only because the sidi's have a replaceable sole,
my brother ended up with these though and he was more than happy with them on our 6 week euro trip,
they were the only foot ware he took with him, so ended up being going out shoes, moto-x boots in romania, hiking boots and touring boots,

wouldnt call them cheap, but worth the money

Yeah, I read similar. Lots of people thought like I did, that they felt flimsy, but no one was reporting breakages. And the boot has been around for a number of years, so if there was an issue, we'd have heard about it.
So really, they probably just changed the buckles because they may have been losing sales in the shops when people tried them on and thought they were likely to break down the line.
So in short, your original post still stands, you can get basically the same as the new boot but for 30% less. Smile

This was the other main reason I bought them, they are light and comfortable so I can do walking about. But with better protection than the Cat's I had and waterproof too.....hopefully.

we got caught in the worse rainstorm ever in serbia, the motorway was like a fricken river, both of us managed to keep dry feet,
i had a wet crotch which im never impressed about Very Happy

They aren't flimsy, they are quite robust. The main reason people
don't like them is that there is no way of fixing the position of the
buckles so that adjustment remains stable. You need re-adjust
the buckles every time you put the boots on. If it bothers you,
set the adjusters for the correct size and then put a small black
cable tie on each adjuster.

I bought the Infinity boots 13 months ago. As soon as they arrived,
I placed them ankle-deep in a sink full of water for several minutes
to confirm they were waterproof. I did the same test last month, just
before they reached one year old. The boots are still completely
waterproof. They are comfortable and the soles are still in good
condition. Last weekend, I did almost 500 miles in cold and wet
weather. My feet stayed dry and reasonably warm. The leather
and stitching are as good as new and the soles are still firmly
bonded to the boot. I hope to get at least another couple of years
out of them.

I actually like the plastic buckles, since my feet are a bit more swollen in the evening when I leave the office than they were when I left home in the morning, I can just ratchet the buckles into a comfortable fit without too much effort.

They arrived today, which is damn good for the free 3-5 day delivery seeing as how I ordered them after hours on the weekend, just before Chrimbo! Full marks to Lidsdirect Smile

I like them a lot, though I've only worn them in the kitchen so far Wink They'll get their first run in the morning and, unless there's a small overnight miracle, I'll be checking they're waterproof then, too. I've had similarly styled and armoured A*s before (they went back due to leaking) but it will take a while to get used to the more restrictive fit after 3 years in the much more casual A* Webs.


(Actually, just looked up when I bought the Webs. It was just over 3 years ago (Oct '11) and they were the same price as these: £170. I think they've been pretty good value as well, but definitely at the end of their life now. Stitching is starting to go up the back where they flex, as well as the sole wearing down)

I've got a pair of 50 quid boots. I've worn them for about 2 or 3 months, maybe 2000 miles tops, they're not waterproof even though they're supposed to be and they're looking a bit tatty. I keep them in the attic as back-up emergency boots.

I reckon it's worth spending a bit on good kit when you use it day in, day out, week in, week out... but not so much as I won't grab the old model at £100 less than the new one.

I've got these boots a while ago for about £150. Was good deal.
The plastic buckles feels fragile. I didn't trust they survive even 1000 miles. 20 000 miles of riding and lots of walking and keeping strong.

It's really waterproof as well.
