Good Morning All, it's great to be here.... Very Happy Very Happy

Sorry adrenalin levels still high after this mornings ride in. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I was filtering up towards Blackwall Tunnell, when I decided to open my visor as it was getting a bit dirty.

Just as the visor was half way up a car moved across my front, about 2 cars ahead, in normal conditions would have simply carried on going.

Unfortunetly, I decided to over-react and grabbed a fist of front break, not good in best of times, but one handed on a wet road, NO NO NO Mad Mad Mad

So front wheel locks and skids out to the right, left foot goes down onto road (in an attempt to preempt the pain it's about to cause me, I decide to hit it first) Laughing

A lot of wobble, a lot of Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed and I recover it and carry on riding Shocked Cool Shocked Cool

Obviously the road decided I was the better fighter Laughing Laughing Laughing

Shocked - This is a case of 'worst case scenario' ! Sometimes you just have to lift up your visor, or give it a quick wipe with the back of your hand. The judgement call is always what's more dangerous? Losing full control for 2 or 3 seconds or not seeing where you are going. As the scenario is a one in a million occurence I doubt if it would happen again

Glad to hear you kept the bike upright though! Thumbs Up

Talk about visor woes, I overtook a car on some twisties at the weekend, gave a quick lifesaver to check it was ok to pull back in, and WOOF, visor gone.

The wind just took my visor clean off, so if anyone's got some spare visor clips for a dainese ergon helmet I'd be extremely greatfull.

Looks like you came away from it alright mate, at least you didn't go down, and I bet you've learnt something from it.

The same thing happened to me ... once only !! Now i have the habit of lifting the visor to filter as I am slowing and just before I start splitting lanes, rather than in between lanes where you need ALL your concentration / control / skills ...............

i lost a visor too on the M60 off me AGV doing a lifesaver , and now me visor on me OGK is starting to lift everytime I do one too ....... arent visor clips crap ?!!

My OGK Visor tried to make a getaway at 120 odd mph on the motorway. Scary as hell when your visor flips up Shocked It snapped the left clip but fortunately the right one held on so I didn't lose the visor, however the helmet needs new clips and side bits etc so it's basically a "write off" And I use my old FM W10 for now..

yes visors cause many problems...

i was riding my bro's cbr400 home after just paying for it Cool Cool

in my case it was raining, my helmet is really really bad and it steams up when riding. So i decided to lift my visor to see the road. It worked and i opened the throttle to onward my journey. buuut my visor slammed shut and scared the bejesus outa me. That taught me a valuable lesson..

hahaha i hate my helmet

Hi

Worst situation I had with a visor was once looking over my shoulder and having the visor flip round. The retaining piece on the left had come undone (which I did not know) and when I looked right it flipped round, acting like a parachute on one side. It took one hell of a lot of effort to turn my head straight again.

All the best

Keith

Ah, the good old 'monkey legs' manouver. Saviour of many a fall over the years. Also accompanied by taking a big munch of saddle with your arse cheeks.

I was watching the R6 cup on channel 5 the other day and saw a brilliant example of this manouver which finished up with the rider surfing next to the bike on his knees. He stayed with it and never dropped the bike Thumbs Up

Well I have a larger visor woe.

I bought a Nitro £70 cheapy helmet first and it never fogged up.

Then I splashed out £225 for an AGV Rossi rep with fog and scratch protection and it fogs up all the time! Evil or Very Mad

My friend gets scared shit everytime he attempts to remove his AGV visor to give it a thorough cleaning just in case he breaks the thing because you have to pull the visor off rather than pull a lever to release it. That's probably why after time they can come flying off due to the retaining clip becoming worn out!

Basically, it's a design flaw by AGV and a like and they should be forced to give replacement helmets when that happens as they cost so much to buy in the first place!

Sometimes a good looking helmet doesn't necessarily mean it's a good pratical one for all seasons especially when it's cold !
