2005 Hornet's been on sale since the start of Dec. It's immaculate and a good 500€ cheaper than others listed with the same mileage/year etc(the Spanish tend to be stupid with their second hand values).

It's a bad time of year to be selling obviously and I wasn't expecting to be inundated but all the interest I've had has been from people with an A2 license which means they can't ride a Hornet.

The Hornet is basically designed for new riders but today's newly qualified riders can't ride my bike.

Hopefully this won't be too much of an issue...

While you do not bargain or haggle in some places (shops for example), you do so when buying second hand goods in Spain, so expect a "mark up" on prices as they take into account that.

New license seems pointless. Why would anyone bother? I've told my boys to just wait until they are 23 and do the DAS.

Seems silly to pay twice.

Also I'd like my kids to gain road knowledge in a car before riding on the road. Controversial on a bike forum I suppose. Cool Laughing

I've not really looked into it as I don't need to, but the rules seem quite easy to understand.

Understanding WHY the rules are what they are is a different matter though and I'll never understand anything EUrope does or why they feel the need to interfere with everything.

Yeah, USD forks, digi dash etc.

It's on for 2700€ (I'll take 2500€). Others from 2005 and similar mileage (between 25-30K KM) are on for 3400€ and 3300€.

Spanish are mental with the prices they put on the net and, contrary to what's posted above, many (if not most) are not interested in negotiating.

I remember I was interested in an ER6N and Kawasaki were selling the 2012 (or 2011 - I can't remember. It was just before an update) model for 5000€. People were asking for 5500-5700€ for the previous years model with a good few thousand kms on the clock!

I'm looking for a 675 Daytona or a 636. I've seen someone wanting 5199€ for a 2005 636!

Is that good or bad in UK terms? I've no idea.

I think it's priced to sell for the local market. It's just not the best time of year to be selling. I reckon I'll be rid of it for the summer. Gives me a bit of time to save up.

You might gain a bit more interest if you restricted it and sold it with a paddy cert. (or have I missed the point?)

Exceeds the rules so insurers/5-0 might cotton on a little.

However could buy it, clone plate from a CBF500 and continue on your merry way.

Not really a problem with modern bikes (as I alluded to earlier), but by my at times suspect maths that rules out some older bikes.


So it can't be more than 35 kW.

If it's restricted to the full 35 kW, it mustn't have been more than 70 kW to start with.

If it is the full 35 kW it must weigh at least 175kg.


What is so hard to understand about that?

Insurers don't care, I suspect. At least in the UK anyway. I'm on a Street Triple R on A2 and MCE will insure me on a GSXR1000 even on A2...

Hi I do sympathize with you as it is you can not do anything about it.
When I turned 70 I had to send my licence for renewal when I got it back the motorbike had been deleted I contacted DVLA who told me sorry but nothing coud be done to re-instate it as the old licence had been destroyed,but I could use the new one as a provisional I pointed out to them that I had been riding motorbikes for 52 years and I currently own a 1940 500cc Matchless and also a 1998 650 Honda, they told me that I could not now ride either bike as my Licence would not cover me, with all the corespondance that went back and fourth it made no difference and I am still without a Licence ,short of byeing a low powered bike and then take the test again I am stumped.
So dont think for a minuet that you will get any help from DVLA. you wont,I am now almost 80 so I wont bother .

That's seriously fucked up, biking life ruined by some inept git using a computer. Sad
