In October I bought a 1982 GN250. The thing was in a pretty sorry state of affairs and had no WOF (called MOT in the UK I believe), but for it's age was in good condition. I spent a week getting it roadworthy (wasn't that much wrong with it), and the past 3 months sanding everything down, getting rid of the rust and respraying it. Total cost of the bike + repairs & reconditioning came to about $1500 or 500 pounds. Here is how the bike looks now:
