Hi!

I change bikes regularly, not because I'm a trader but because there are so many bikes and I want to try them all! I can't be alone, there must be other people like out there like me.... Anyhow, insurance is a problem. Changing bikes 3 or 4 times a year costs me loads in fees and some times you have to cancel your current polic then take out a new one. Are there any policies of there that cater for my bike changing habits?

I was with eBike for a few years, multi bike policy, chopped and changed bikes and was never charged or had my premium changed when adding a bike.

Just looking over my old ebike policy emails, I went through the following bikes and was only charged a few times as I got bigger more powerful kitten killing machines, notable one was the R1. Never paid more than £400 for all of them over each year. You can only insure 4 at once.

Yamaha TT600R SM '02
Kawasaki ZX6R '98
Suzuki Bandit 400 '92
Keeway Speed 125 '11
Moto Roma RDG125 '07
Honda CBR600RR '03
Yamaha R1 '01
Honda Varadero 125 '07
Suzuki TL1000S '97
Skyteam Gorilla YX140 '06
Kawasaki ZXR750/9R '92
Kawasaki ER5 '02

So ebike get my vote, all done by yourself too so no real admin rate to pay.

I'd avoid Premium Choice as brokers. Their admin fee is £35 to add a bike, and as an aside if you move to a higher risk area the premium increases, but you move to a low risk area the 'refund' matches the admin charges. Odd that.

Can you not just register yourself as a trader and get trade insurance? If I'm correct and it's like trade insurance for cars there are no additional fees and a fixed premium regardless of what you ride.

I did it with cars for a couple years. Worked out cheaper than a personal policy as I was quite young at the time. Only downside is you get no no-claims bonus.
