Well, so They would have you believe.

Oh, wait, Wastemonster have also (finally) fitted ground anchors there. Exclamation

Then some waffle about the small number of new security marked bikes being stolen. No context about whether that's because it's old hacks that get used for commuting into high risk areas.

It's probably all for the best, but I wonder if it's just shifting thefts rather than reducing them.

If it's that a hot-spot for theft, why isn't a bobby permanantly placed there?

I have data tags on 2 of my bikes, didn't ask for, came with.

as it isn't an anti-theft device in itself, the detterent would seem to be little more than a sticker Question

That cub's front tyre is perilously close to the white line. Confused

Which is why I didn't bother paying datatag to re-register my GS in my name.

By the time it gets recovered, it'll be the insurer's bike.

My bike has a datatag sticker. Since I've had it I've replaced mirrors, side panels, rear fender, seat, and exhaust system and it has been repainted. I am unsure what remains that might be tagged, and have no idea what previous owners replaced.

I suspect there is just the sticker now.

How does datatagging affect the salvage value of a motorcycle?

I'd assume that if they're not total scammers that at least the frame and engine are tagged.

I don't rule out the alternative though, as I'm sure insurers and Dibble would be quite happy to collude in anything that deters thefts.
