After my accident on my old CBR waaay back, the little chav has finally admitted liability. (He was in the left lane, I was in the right lane, he turned right ACROSS my lane, and I t-boned him.

Once he'd learned the cost of the damage, he was soon ready to dispute liability, after I'd been nice enough to agree to settle outside of insurance.

I called my insurance after his mother sent me some mouthy texts (fuck 'em).

This accident was in March 2012. Liability has just been admitted today.

Do I get any NCB I had back?

It's been longer than two years since I've been able to use them, and I know you lose them after so long... but not really my fault on that one.

Paid for my insurance in full this year anyway as it has come down a bit with me being 26.

Yes, your NCD should be reinstated. Your existing insurer should make an adjustment to allow for your NCD to be used from inception of the policy, subject most likely to an admin fee, of course.

Well then I am very excited to see what my insurance comes down to. Also excited to see the cheque arrive in the post for the claim Laughing

Got a cheque for my accident last December a month ago or so!

Don't get your hopes up. It'll probably be a reduced premium of £20, and a £50 admin fee for making the changes! Evil or Very Mad

Follow up question... if you're in an unresolved dispute over a claim and you go for renewal do you declare nothing or mention it as unresolved?

You declare it as an outstanding claim. Your NCD is held in abeyance until such point as it's resolved a) 100% in your favour and reinstated or b) you're found to be partially or fully at fault and it's stepped back / removed entirely depending on how many years and the terms of the step back scale published in the policy wording.

I don't know about theory, but in my situation(slightly different to yours), I got the insurance company to pay back the difference in premiums for the two years I paid full cover.

Not only should you get them back, but you should be able to recover from their insurance all costs as a result of "losing" them too.

Also FYI not only do you lose your no claims bonus but the disputed claim in progress counts as an at-fault claim against you. It did with me anyway when they quoted me, I had two disputed ongoing claims. Both settled in my favour now.

That pushed my insurance into 4 figures.

Yeah it was the same for me and was a nightmare. I had got 2 years NCD then had this crash (in my cager) when i was 19 back in 2001. Cost me a fortune driving my 306 DTurbo so i bought a 306 GTI then a Mitsi Evo at 21. Oh how i enjoyed paying £2000+ on insurance.

Your only young once though eh? Got my NCB back when i was 23 and made a massive difference. Think i was paying £750 by then.
