I have a Triumph Trophy 1200 that will not start it will turn over no problem and the battery is good, I have not checked the coils but believe they are fine.

On occasion it will backfire extremely loudly, I've tried using easy start at which point it will cough but will not start.

I also have petrol leaking from the air box, this is don't know why is happening either.

For the information on when this started it started when a couple of months ago, it would run for approximately 10 minutes and then would stop dead (no coughing or spluttering), upon removing carbs I broke the fuel distribution pipe (plastic bit that the fuel tank fuel line connects to). I had that replaced and since then have had the problems as described up the top.

I'd appreciate any input you could give. Many thanks

Petrol leaking from the air box suggests a problem with the carburettor float valves, but remove and check spark plugs first.

Are they gapped correctly?

Are they soaked in petrol?

Is there a spark?

Easier to check spark plugs, but prepare yourself for a carb strip-down.

check the pickup coil, same as a thunderbird 900 triple and known to breakdown, they've all been superceded to the same part number and I've not heard of one of the newer ones going, yet.
