BBC news
"A cyclist who filmed an argument with a van driver in which he appears to have been knocked off his bike and assaulted has been urged to contact police."

Just watched the vid and won't defend the van driver but
the cyclist was a twat for overtaking on the left at a junction.
HWC and all that

"167

DO NOT overtake where you might come into conflict with other road users. For example

approaching or at a road junction on either side of the road"

That happened round the corner from me, my view of it is the cyclist called someone a muppet and got a shoeing for it. His mouth wrote a cheque his body couldn't cash.

Not a great piece of cycling. Rather put himself in harms way.

However, typical white van cunt. The human race would be better off without him.

I can't see what the cyclist did wrong there, from the look of things in that video he was keeping up with the flow of traffic rather than over taking.

certainly nothing to deserve the reaction of the van driver.

I don't understand why people act like dickheads in signwritten vehicles. Either his company goes down the pan now, if he's the owner, or he gets sacked for ruining the company's reputation. Muppet.

No Sound?

No one did anything until the cyclist shouted at the van driver because he was on his phone.

The van driver was about 1ft from the cyclist and on the phone, so not in control of his vehicle. Maybe if the van driver wasn't on the phone, he wouldn't have been dangerously close to the cyclist and the cyclist wouldn't have felt the need to say anything about the fact.

Cyclist passes on the left, not a great idea.. was he speeding?
Cyclist then slows and looks back to see the driver of the van.
Van driver on the phone. Well that's just stupid.
Cyclist politely informs the van driver that it is illegal to use a mobile phone while driving without a hands-free kit.

Oh no, wait, that didn't happen.

Cyclist passes on the left, not a great idea.. was he speeding?
Cyclist then slows and looks back to see the driver of the van.
Van driver on the phone. Well that's just stupid.
Cyclist spies an opportunity to make himself look like a "most rightest" responsible road user to his internet youtube fagbase and insults the van driver for no reason apart from making himself look like the biggun.

Van driver moves to the left to avoid oncoming traffic.

Cyclist gets put on his arse for having a fucking stupid road position.

As motorcyclists we know how vulnerable we are and we avoid putting ourselves in sketchy situations regardless of who is in the right.

From what I have seen, the majority of cyclists are self-righteous idiots who would rather be right and lose a leg instead of being safe and have 2 legs.

Edit - derp'd
FU borg.

Certainly true of some cyclists.

I'm not sure that being a bit self righteous means you deserve to be attacked by mentally sub normal van drivers though!

From the video clip available, the cyclist made the effort to put himself in that position.

If he carried on going there would be no story here.

I had sound on, I still don't agree that what the cyclist did warranted that kind of response from the van driver.

He ran him off the road then got out and twatted him. Hardly a measured response to being told to get of the phone.

You assume the van driver ran him off the road intentionally.

I didn't say it it was, however if he hadn't have gobbed off he wouldn't have got a smack. If you run around telling people off one day someone 'harder' than you will give you a kicking.

For a bonus point, kids, did anyone spot what other laws may have been broken by those evil white vanners?

I can't spot it.

At a guess, not putting hazard lights on?
Is that even a law?
Probably not.
