Personally I wouldn't put a 3.50 onto a 1.6" rim... To keep a sensible profile on the tyre you really need a 2" rim width.

You can get some decently aggressive 3.00 fronts though.

What bike is it you're putting it on? Chances are that if it has a 1.6 rim it won't have the clearance around it for a 3.50 tyre anyway.

Honda h100 rims are 1.4 and take a 2.75 tyre just for comparison

thanks for the replys
would it be unsafe so fit a 3.50 ? what are the problems with doing so ?
also where is a good place for rims and wheel parts and rebuilds ? im looking at all the options.

i have a 16" rear wheel and would like to go to 18" but need to find a cheap enough way of getting a wheel that will actually fit in my suzuki gn 125
cheers

Simply speaking, the wider the tyre (for a given rim) the more "pointy" the profile of the tyre will be. Increase the pointyness a little and the bike will turn in faster but increase the pointyness too far and the bike will be unstable and feel like you are riding on ice.

1/ Why do you want trial tyres on a GN125 cruiser?
2/ WHY do you want trail tyres on a GN125 cruiser!
3/ Having trouble wrapping my head round WHY you would want trail tyres on a 125 cruiser still....

4/ Why... would you want a 'fat' rear tyre, on the front?

Most trial bikes have a 4.00 ish sized rear, and a 2.75 ish sized front.... in fact that is the 'regulation' tyre sizing for competition trials, funnily enough.... and there are a lot of very good reasons why, trail, trial, MX, and enduro 'off-road' bikes, and in fact MOST bikes, road bikes, sports bkes, race bikes, even cruiser's, funnily enough; have this narrow front / fat rear combination..... to a greater or lesser degree.....

5/ I feel an answer that is ether going to involve 'I can Count to Van-Van', or get round to it..... but we'll see. Bottom line, unless it's purely for some warped notion of a survival special or brat-chop; I suspect this is not the 'answer' to any real problem that you might e hoping to solve.. but, back up, elaborate, explain to us WHY you want a fat front trial tyre on a cruiser style commuter 125... and we might be ale to a) explain why it wont solve your problem, b) offer suggestion that might.

6/ Have you got a tape-measure? Have you measured the clearances between the fork-legs and in the rear swing-arm? A 4.00" tyre isn't always 4.00", and when it comes to more 'knobly' off-road tyres, you can often run into issues of the actual knobles making the tyres significantly wider than the stated carcass width and, usually, cos sensible folk tend to be fitting the fat tyre to the back, the treads fouling in the swing arm, chain run, or mudguard... I can only see this being even more of an issue a generally narrower front fork.

If this is something you're intending to ride on the road, have you asked about insurance with these modifications you seem to be planning?
