Anyone know of VNC server for Android or similar that works well? I'd like to be able to control it from my desktop when working from home and I *much* prefer to use my keyboard for typing out messages rather than the touch screen.

I don't use the standard text messaging program, so Airdroid doesn't work very well and I still can't access all the programs I'd like/want with it. I've tried a few VNC severs but none seem to work yet.

no i've not found a good one.

Airdroid does remote controlling now though although it seems quite slow unless you are on a 5Gz network with good signal.

For texting from a PC (via my Android phone) I use Chrome with Mightytext installed - works pretty well.

If I use Windows, which I don't. Sad

Unfortunately I don't use the standard app to text from, so texts would be sent in plain text and any response I get would be garbled.

Airdroid uses a web interface so she be platform independent.

What exactly are you trying to achieve? For simple interaction (answering texts, handling calls etc) then PushBullet is pretty damned good although not a full control interface.

I'm trying to send texts through TextSecure remotely so I don't have to pick up my phone every time I want to send a message.

AirDroid doesn't have remote control through the web interface, only through the client as far as I can see.
