Has anyone else ever had their bike moved in a car park?

The NTV was moved today and then dropped while it was parked in a motorcycle bay.

I have the reg and CCTV footage. I have informed the police who are coming to see me in the week.

What I'm mainly asking is that is it even worth pursuing or will it become a long drawn out process that will eat up alot of my time due to me having to do the feds work for them?

I dont care about the bike, but the fact it was just left on the deck in the middle of a carpark annoys me greatly.

Never had done to me, but I'd do exactly what a biker with that as their sole bike would do, pursue it.

If you moved their car, you reckon they'd do you for everything they could...?

I haven't experienced that, but today I filled up with fuel, normally I move the bike out the way to allow others to come in and use the pump after me, but the garage was quiet so I just left my bike at the pump.

I go into the store, turn to look out the window to confirm that I am definitely pump seven. An old couple has pulled up next to my bike and stretching the hose across my tank, and parked in such a manner, I can't move my bike. Evil or Very Mad

I go out ask them what the hell they are playing at and they just stare at me like I'm an alien. I ask if they'd do that if a car was parked up at the pump and I was told that that was beside the point, that I shouldn't be so selfish and to share the pump with everyone, I very nearly exploded, but realised that it never solves anything. I tell her that she could have waited for me to move it, but apparently, "There's no need, dear, I could reach across just fine, it caused my no hassle, honestly."

Thanks god my fuel pump is adjusted incorrectly and the bike was still cold and the drivers window was open. Hopefully it stinks of two stroke in there for days! Twisted Evil

If annoyance was caused then yes, it is definitely worth pursuing. If only so that the tard who moved your bike knows that they shouldn't go around moving other peoples vehicles in car parks. If you were in a bike space then why is someone moving your bike?

Personally I would be pig-headed about it but that's because I hate hate HATE people putting their meatpaws on my stuff without permission.

I think the crux of the matter here as to the action of the police is why was it moved in the first place?

Was it someone attempting to nick the bike or was it some tit moving it so they could park?

The former should result in an attempted theft the latter would probably be subject to civil action.

I always use a disk lock, making it difficult to move. If I'm in town, I take a bike lock to lock it to something...

Never had it, but came out of a local takeaway a few weeks ago to find some junkies sitting on my bike. One was taking photo of the other on the bike, with me charging towards them in the background. Picture-taking guy legged it, other guy couldn't get off the bike fast enough.

If I found my bike moved I'd lose my shit. I came out of college once to find my bike had the killswitch pressed, and the indicator switched over. Went through and got CCTV of who it was and pulled the guy up for sitting on the bike. I even get annoyed when my mirrors are moved which happens a lot with the tight parking in the bay I use in town.

I'm sure I saw something on Reddit about this in California in the states, it's actually illegal to move or sit on someone elses motorbike, because they class it as similar to breaking into a car.

When they visit present them with the reg and cctv evidence and a quote from the local 'man-who-can' for repairs to scuffed up paintwork, get every dink and scuff no matter how small photographed and clock them for the lot (If you don't care about the bike I'd be tempted to make sure there were some handsome dinks worth taking pics of Wink )
Likelihood is that unless they hit it with their car the police won't care so ask them for their address so that you can pursue the matter through the courts (whether you do is up to you but it does mean that the next time you ride down their street you'll be sure not to catch those nasty zips on your leather jackets accidentally on his car as you go past - wouldn't want that after all Karma )

Don't think you will have any luck at all with pursuing insurance via the reg as the vehicle wasn't involved.

Any claim will have to be made against the person.

Sadly this, most likely.

Fair play for getting the cops to come round (assuming they don't find something more important to do on the day) but ask yourself what the outcome is likely to be.

If the CCTV just shows some random bloke moving it, then you're heading up process cul-de-sac.

If it shows somebody getting out of a car/off a bike and has a clear shot of the number plate, the filth might get an address out of it, then they have to go round there, get the whole "I lent it to my mate/sold it last week/must've been cloned, I was in the Shetland Isles that week" BS story, which they then have to prove, blah, blah, blah.

I understand the principle of proving a point and making someone pay, but the kind of lowlife that does these things doesn't give a fuck about all that, if they did, they would've left a note.

If it was my pride and joy, I would be tempted to hunt them down like dogs and shoot them; if it was my shitbox commuter, I would move on with my life, I have more important things to worry about.

I broke down on the motorway a couple of years ago, didn't quite make it all the way down the slip road, so left it at the end of the hard shoulder.

After getting help from a BCF we went to get the bike and it had been moved from the hard shoulder on to the grass, they had dropped it (mud and grass stuck to the handlebars, foot peg and a repair that I'd done to the fairing had been broken again), unfortunately there was no point reporting it to the police as they were the ones who moved it

I fear it may well be a waste of time going through the motions and insurance is a no go mainly due to the bike being next to worthless anyway.

I guess it just pissed me off more seeing it just left on its side in the road.

The vehicle in question was parked in a motorcycle bay which i also parked in. I guess the owner couldnt get out so took it upon themselves to move my bike out of the way.

Is the lesson here not to park in a motorcycle bay? Laughing

Insist on it being recorded as criminal damage, complaint against the Farce if they try and NFA it, don't even countenance the word "insurance".

You should have asked the store guy to kill the pump, due to the danger.

Which is why you park it far enough away from the pump, that they cannot get their car into the gap between pumps.
If they winge, than as you said. Simply say what if its a car....

Why was it moved ? was it in the process of being stolen ? was someone trying to move it to get more room ? If it was accidental wouldn't they have hung around for the rider ? specially if no damage ..

Whatever your bike was tampered with then dropped i would be furious at the gall of it all and would pursue it, with cctv it should be a pretty straight forward case and i can see minimum hassle for yourself..

Hang draw and quarter them !!!
