Our first bambino is 3 weeks old now, an is a pink, wrinkly farting shitting screaming machine!!

everyone keeps saying "oh you need to get them in a routine" that's easier said than done.

so any tips on how to survive on 26mins of sleep a night....please

We followed this book https://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Contented-Little-Baby-Book/dp/0091912695 and it worked.

Getting them into a routine is hard but that book helps you to do it. At the time a lot of our friends/family thought we were cruel getting a baby into a strict routine - they were all into feeding on demand type stuff. However, our little one was the first to consistently sleep through the night compared to other kids born at the same time.

Other than that if you have to get up and go to work then make use of the spare bedroom if you have one

Can't say it was difficult with ours.

Wife and child returned from hospital a day or so after birth (c-section), wifey last a week before returning to hospital for about 4weeks and then her mothers for 2weeks.

Raise child on my own during that time, it wasn't hard, at that age it's feeding and sleeping. Feeding was 6 times a day iirc, then 4 times a day, between 11pm, 4pm and 7/8am I got enough sleep.

When she wouldn't sleep I was just getting into The Walking Dead so watch a lot of that during the small hours.

I'd say it was the terrible 2's that are harder...but we are getting there.

Routine will take time.

First four months was (for me) a sleepless zombie-fied wreck ....

It's such a change, I wouldn't pressure yourself for a routine, but if you start anywhere; make is a nice relaxing bath time/bedtime routine. Sooner they get sleeping the better.

Anyway, congrats, enjoy, they are little for such a short amount of time. And awwww don't make me broody 😄!

funny you should mention baths, we are trying set a 18:00 bath every night to try an start a routine - a week in an its nor really working, im sure it will though

bought one of them motorised swing chair things on the weekend, so i gonna try her in that see if that sends her off too

last night/ this morning, she woke up at 23:00 an was basically awake until 4:30

starting to feel tired now

Firstly congrats your knob seems to work!!

Secondly - how fast can you run??

Seriously though, the first 3 months for me was terrible with the first one, lack of sleep nearly falling asleep at work, actually falling asleep at work at my desk mid conversation (that was fun).

Best thing that we did was just let them cry for a bit and not panic, if they find out every time they cry they get picked up they cry more, just leave them if they are crying for a bit sometimes they cry themselves to sleep, other times they cry longer and you know they need something.

Looking back it feels like such a short time but going through it it feels like forever.

Do whatever you think is best for you and yours as every child is different!!

It's best you get used to suffering now because it doesn't end.

Having a child is like the worst unrequited love you've ever suffered. You give everything you have emotionally, financially, physically and they still want more from you with out giving anything back.

Occasionally you'll get a little smile or later, even a thank you. Don't be fooled though, they don't like you really they've just learned how to manipulate you.
