hi all.i bought a wee 99 honda cg125.it had a broken ignition, mudguard, headlight[stolen recovered].i put an ignition on it and it starts but will only idle with half choke, even after letting it run for 5-10 mins.ive had the carb off and jets cleaned and blown out.i tried turning the air mixture screw both ways but makes no difference.does'nt seem to be any air leaks at boots.any ideas what to try next?

You need to meet this fella...

You really will get more help, less mocking, and less people who can't be arsed to read your post if you two become acquainted.
Although you will probably still be mocked, this is BCF. Very Happy

As far as your issue...

Sounds like you've made a good start with the carbs anyway.

How are your air filters looking? (I'm assuming yours is as my '98 model in that it has a metal filter cylinder, with 1 thick foam filter, wrapped in a thinner one).

It is more likely that it is the idle speed and fuel mix that are incorrect though.

First off, warm the bike fully.
Second, just to make sure you arent using them backwards, the idle screw will be in through the metal plate covering the carb, facing horizontally.
The fuel/air mix is facing downward, at the base of the carb.

You will need to adjust both one after another until you find the right spot.
If your CG has no Tachometer (as mine did not) then you have to do it by ear I'm afraid.
You could start by setting it back to the manufacturers settings (can't remember off the top of my head) but every CG will have a slightly different happy spot.

Remember though, every time you adjust the fuel air mix, you should then adjust the idle speed.

Also, humour me, when you turn your choke "off" which way are you flicking the lever? up or down?

Oh SHIT... I done gone and "Tef'ed" Drooling

EDIT: I just noticed you're not a noob, phone broken or are you Scottish? Laughing

Feel free to ignore the above post if you wish, but I think I have a better theory.

If the dipshits that stole it have fucked with the fuel/air screw, (Make it go faster, yeh brav?) they may have removed it entirely, and possibly lost the spring, washer and/or Oring in the process.
Essentially making the fuel air screw ineffectual.

Food for thought.

yes i ignored that post.ffs give me some credit.i did go back just now and took off carb again.i removed fuel/air screw and cleaned it thinking it might be blocked.put it back on and still the same.but i did'nt notice an o ring or washer.i will look up parts fiche and see what goes on there.thanks.for the idea.i cant even get it to idle without choke on.even if i turn revs[idle screw] way up then take choke off,it will still die and cut out.hopefully a washer and o ring is missing.wiil let you know how i get on.

number 6 is your fuel/air screw, on top of it is the spring, washer and oring, bit of a shitty picture, but you get the idea.

If either the oring or washer are missing, check in the hole as they may just be stuck up there, but if it truly "makes no difference" when you turn it, then yeah theyre probably missing.

Maybe you shouldn't have ignored my first post afterall. Whistle

We've all been there though, learning through mistakes that is. Smile

For perspective, in this weather I start the CG on half choke, idle for about 1-2 minutes, then turn off.
If i'm impatient sometimes I just ride off with half choke til im a street away, then turn it off while riding.
