Given your restriction issues I don't think a 2-stroke would end well for you... too soon?
Personally I couldn't go back to a 4-stroke 125, it would have to be a DT or TDR. ____________________ Yamaha MT-03 '08 (crashed)

Hi,
im currently commuting (well,when its not snowing heavy) on NSR 125 & have had no problems.
i have found it better "put together" than any of the other 2 stroke "race replicas" & i have commuted in some silly temps (like minus 16 ) on mitos & rs's.
it has a better reputation for reliabilty than the other "race replica" 125's. ( & parts are cheaper too)
get a decent nsr, thats not been "modified" or has any silly tat on it.
ie. as original as possible & in original colours. though an aftermarket exhaust is a welcome bonus.
whether its restricted or not? whos gonna be able to tell? only way is to stick the bike on a dyno.
& unless the power is on the v5 & YOU derestrict it, its not gonna kill any kittens is it? (not that i would encourage riding outwith conditions of licence
look after it & when it becomes time to sell, you wont lose any money. (might even make a profit, seeing as prices are beginning to creep up)
but given the choice, i'd take a varadero over any of the 2 strokes, purely for commuting. simply because of the seating position ( i miss my ccm r30) & 4t reliability & i would keep my 2 strokes for fun but finances & lack of space wont let me have another bike (i have 5 already)
probably wouldnt consider any other 4t 125, apart from maybe the hyosung gt but wary of spares availability.

Commuting around Birmingham City Centre yesterday on the Varadero - high winds, heavy traffic, roadworks, even thick snow at one point. I'm not used to those conditions, but the Vara was a breeze! ____________________ Honda Varadero XL125(V8)

Ah, the constant quest to make the mighty weapon between your thighs narrower.
I've got narrower bars on both bikes and am pondering bicycle bars. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
